But it didn't matter how many times Lance repeated it to himself; he remained inside the Red Lion, his arm itching and a face he didn't recognise.
Oh, his face was still the same. Nothing so dramatic had happened. But there were differences: there were scars on his lip and neck that weren't there before, and his eyes were now so bright blue that they weren't normal.
And he wasn't. Because apparently his father was a god, and Lance's whole life was a lie.
Shiro knew it, but he hadn't told him anything.

Lance is a paladin. Lance is just a normal boy from Cuba. Even when things went wrong, even when the team no longer trusted him, at least Lance knew who he was. But an encounter with a vengeful god turns his life upside down and forces him to realise that everything he belived was fake, and that he didn't know anything about himself.

The prince himself never knew the omega that generated him," the general paused , knowing she now has their total attention, "There are rumors, of course, and you most of all should know what happened the last time the emperor and King Alfor met..."
Allura's interruption was as sudden as it was lightning, "What do you need?"

Forced by circumstances, Lotor's generals contact the paladins to ask for their help in rescuing Prince Lotor. There's a problem: no omega can approach the base where the prince is being held prisoner without going mad from the pheromones. Everything should go smoothly, given that the paladins are human and, more importantly, have no dynamics. Too bad no one had foreseen Lance.

The young man stared at him, shocked.
"You... don't you remember me?" he asked, finding it simply inconceivable.
And Lance, in other circumstances, would have been amused by that reaction, but there was a little girl he had to bring back to her mother; he hadn't slept for almost twenty-seven hours and needed a break.
"No, dude, now if you want to excuse me..."
The boy turned Lance to him, their faces a short distance away, purple eyes fixed on his, and Lance's treacherous heart skipped a beat.
"Blue Spirit, I'm Red Warrior. Do you really not remember me?"
At that point, Lance began to break out in a cold sweat. Of course, he couldn't remember him. Lance wasn't the real one.
(In which, due to a stupid stunt, the seventeen-year-old Lance dies and finds himself in the body of a villain of his best friend's favourite graphic novel, trying not to attract too much attention. Too bad for Lance, Keith doesn't make things easy for him at all.)

"I'm hallucinating now," Damian muttered to himself, as the boy stared at him, uncertainly, "Mhm, pretty sure I'm not a hallucination."
"That's what a hallucination would say, Richard," he said, knowing he sounded petulant. Whatever the Galra had given him to keep him quiet, it was stronger than many of the drugs he had become accustomed to during his training with the League of Assassins.
It was only for this reason that he risked falling forward. Fortunately for him, he was promptly grabbed by the boy. It was a strong, solid grip, and definitely not a hallucination.
Damian looked up, meeting eyes that reminded him of a dead man, and the other said, "You confused me with another person. My name is not Richard. It's Lance."
(During his imprisonment on an alien ship, after sacrificing himself to save Earth, Damian meets a boy who reminds him terribly of his dead brother. He can't be who he believes, but the resemblance is striking, and Damian just wants to believe that something left by Dick Grayson still exists.)

An almost unreal silence fell in the room. Priest Epinice seemed almost as forbidden as they were, and the idea of drugging a paladin had been his.
The priest stammered, "Ah, I don't think... That's not what I asked!"
"Oh, this is getting funny," Pidge muttered, a maniacal twinkle in his eyes.
"Pidge, this isn't funny," Shiro hissed at her, but the green paladin retorted, "Keith without filters finally spilling the beans and ending our suffering? Of course it is!"
Before Shiro could scold her, Keith continued, " Lance is an ass, but a sexy ass. I just stare at him during training, and yes, he's one of the worst fighters; probably only Hunk is poorer, but I don't mind being paired with him during training, so I have an excuse to pin him to the ground and see how he reacts."
"Dear Lord, no..." Shiro exhaled; Pidge laughed like crazy.
(Where, even with a truth potion involved, Keith and Lance still can't really understand each other.)
