Chapter Text
Today has been like any other day. Another early start, too early if you asked them, another rehearsal for their upcoming fanmeet and an award show performance that's coming up in the next two weeks, another screaming match between the seven men in the practice room. Just like the previous days before, it’s another six against one and just like yesterday it’s the maknae against his hyungs.
“Why are we suddenly against doing more contemporary? We’ve always done those kind of moves in ‘Butterfly’ and ‘Spring Day’! None of you complained back then! Why are we now completely changing up the routine to this dance? I don’t get it? We have seven different songs, you all have your chance to shine. Are you really that threatened by me doing two eight – counts a little better than all of you? Hobi hyung outshines all of us at all times and we don’t complain about that either…”
“Maybe you should just remember that we are K-pop performers. Not contemporary.”, Tae rolls his eyes at the younger.
“So when it suits you, we are K-pop idols, but on the other days of the year we don’t belong in boxes? Make up your mind, will you?”
“Jimin, you are being exhausting. For once, just let it go.”, Jin sighs, "Also, mind your language... We are still older."
“You chose to audition for this band. You knew what you got yourself into when you signed the contract. For the past seven years, you were fine with everything. Are you having a quarterlife crisis? Is that it?”, Namjoon looks at him sternly, “We shouldn’t be wasting time with these unnecessary discussions. In a team, you have to be able to both give and take. You can’t always get your way.”
“This is not about me getting my way, this about me wondering why we are changing everything up. Why aren’t we going with everything we know? All the other songs get their original dances, then why not Black Swan?”
“Because that was a one off, when we did the online concert. We could do more, make it all amazing looking. While our performances are always high level, we can’t pull off what we did with the online concert. We were able to edit things in and out. How are you going to do that? If we mess this up Jimin, people will see that happen. Is it that weird that we want to give people the best time watching our performance? Or that we don’t want the media to mock us, to laugh at us? Are you really that selfish that you want to be the only one that shines, while we will probably not be able to keep up with you? We can do the contemporary again, when there is less on the line.”
“Did you just call me selfish, Kim Namjoon? Me? Really? I rarely ask to do contemporary and in group discussions I’m always the one to agree with you all. The one time I ask you to keep a choreography, to try some harder contemporary again, to properly challenge ourselves, I’m the problem... Fine! Whatever! You do you, I'll pick it up once the choreography is finished.”, With that Jimin walks to the corner of the room to pick up his bag. Hanging it over his shoulder, he makes his way past his bandmates, all the way to the door. Only when he touches the handle, does Yoongi speak up.
“Where are you going?”
“Seeing as my opinion doesn’t matter and it’s clearly expected of me to just follow you at all times, I don’t have to be here for the choreographing bit of it all. Imagine me not agreeing with you on one move or asking you to try something different. I’ve been called selfish once, which is one time too many, I refuse to be called that twice. Lately, the six of you have been banding together against me, no matter what the argument is about, because apparently every idea or suggestion I have is never good enough, I’ve always apologized for having a different opinion, I’ve always put your ideas first… Today, I’m done. Clearly, I’m not a part of this band, just put me with the backup dancers! You want to do things your way, this is me stepping away and letting you do your thing without bothering you. I’ll also be sleeping in my own room tonight. Because while you might be able to separate work from our relationship, I cannot. Today it's this, last week our argument was about what we were going to do on date night. Another thing I let slide, even though it was actually my time to pick. Yet, none of you felt like rollerskating, so you started throwing all these other ideas at me hoping I would pick one of yours. You clearly forgot, but I didn't... None of you showed up for our date, because I refused to pick one of your suggestions. I am the one who never complained about any of your dates, but you couldn't give me that same courtesy. I disliked the painting and the fishing, I had a headache after the jazz concert, watching a black and white film wasn’t all that great either, the cooking course was hell… But I did all of those without complaining… I never understood why you wanted me to join your relationship, because for the past three years I feel like I have been trying much harder than any of you do… I never complained about me skating on my own and waiting for four hours for at least one of you to show up, I didn’t even tell you afterwards how much it hurt me. I’ve kept it in every time you put me in the back during dances when I’m supposedly part of the dance line, because as you said, in a band you give and take… I didn’t even complain when all of you laughed it off when the team forgot to edit my name and picture in the background during last year's end of year performance, though I had hoped some of you would have mentioned it or had given me the opportunity to mention it in the first work meeting of the year… I’m always the one who lets it go, in both our professional and private lives, but I’m done being freaking Elsa! Come up with your perfect choreography, put me in the back as always and have your favourite food tonight, because I’m not giving up my craving for fried chicken either!”
With that, the youngest smashes the door closed and walks out of the building. Despite him being extremely angry, he wonders if he should go back inside, whether he was being unreasonable. But thinking back to the amount of times his hyungs had been unreasonable in the past three years as boyfriends and the past seven as members, he decides he gets to be the unreasonable one for a change. Creative differences can happen, he knows that too. Instead of just talking in on him, practically forcing him to take their side, the other men could have given him proper arguments or could have at least listened to his. If he had seen them struggling, he’d be the first to tell them to change the routine… If he can deal with that kind of change, why can’t they?
“Should we go after him?”, Hobi asks, still watching the door their youngest just left through.
“Maybe… He did have a point. Lately our fights are always the six of us against him… We’ve always known he thought very different on basically everything, so why are we fighting about it now? Also, he does let everything go. I didn’t even know he was upset about us not showing up to the roller rink. When we wanted to talk about it, he said it was fine and I just accepted it… Because that was the easiest thing to do. I should have known better.”, Yoongi shakes his head.
“Look, we all should have known better. What he said is true, it was his turn to pick a date. If he hated ours that much, which he should have told us, then it would have been common decency to show up at his activity, but while he has a point… He has also been much more irritable lately and maybe also much more unreasonable. It’s not that odd that we want to go for something that can wow the people with something they can see and experience when they are in the room with us. The contemporary part… if we keep messing that up, they’ll have to edit it in which is nice for the people watching the livestream, but the live audience pays more… So, shouldn’t they be able to see every little thing? How does he not get that?”, Tae says frustrated.
“All of us already have a solo moment… Why should we give Min two? What about us? I don’t mind that it happens once or twice, but if people see the choreography he came up with, whether we nail it or not, people are going to want to see that one all the time… What if we can’t do it? And what if we can… We are never going to be on his level. Can you imagine the world laughing at us? I don’t want to, wherever we go, we will have to deal with joking remarks or having to review memes on our shitty dancing. No thank you.”, Jungkook fumes.
“I honestly think Jiminie has a point. Contemporary choreography would go extremely well with Black Swan. As in… it would be mind - blowing. Unfortunately, we aren't qualified to execute his vision. I’m just scared he is going to be disappointed because we can’t fulfill his perfect picture.”, Yoongi adds.
“All I know is that we have been fighting a lot lately. You’d think the longer you are together, the better it’ll be. As if… Don’t get me wrong, I love him… But there are moments where I wish they would have just kept the band at six members. That they didn’t decide last minute on seven members, because visually that just looks better… Think about it, the only reason Jimin was given a spot in this band is because it looked better… While that might be true, we would have made it work with six people too. We have always been the people who got along the best. Everything with us comes effortlessly… Things with him are often very good, very happy, but there are moments where we just can’t seem to see eye to eye and it’s so freaking annoying. I think life would have been easier without Jimin in it.”
“You know, I think Tae has a point. If they had kept the six of us, we would have dated much sooner, we wouldn’t have waited until Jimin was 22 to be together... We would have made a move a month after we were put together. It was love at first sight with the five of you… With Jimin… It took longer, because he is so different from us.”, Jungkook says.
“He is different, but in the best way possible. He is so kind, generous and absolutely hilarious. He wants what is best for everyone and often puts himself last… When he is angry though… I’m not going to lie, he scares the crap out of me. The way he looked at us right before he left, that glare… I’d rather not have it directed towards me. I love Minnie, with all of my heart… But he is different from us… Then again, maybe we are just too selfish for him.”, Jin points out.
“I love him a lot, but sometimes love isn’t enough… Not that I want us to break up, but maybe we should spend a little less time with Jiminie. See if we actually miss him when he isn’t around… If not, maybe we need to have a chat.”
“Tae… What exactly are you saying?”, Namjoon looks at the younger, quite shocked about his words.
“That maybe a few days, weeks or even months apart might do us some good. Sometimes you really forget what you have and you get lost in the negative feelings you go through… With how different Jimin is… It might be for the better if we keep our distance for a little while. Not with the plan of breaking up, at least not yet, but to see if we want to put time and effort in saving our relationship with him. I used to wish to have all of us together at all times, now I just want things to be easier, for things to go back to the way things were. I wish for Jimin to not be here for a bit so we can relax, not fight every minute of every day and find the beauty in love again. Lately, everything has been stressful and dark. If this is what it is like to be in a relationship, then… I'd rather not be in one. ”
“What it sounds like to me, Tae, is that you don’t want to fix your relationship with him. You don’t have to, but what about your soulmate status? Don’t forget that you were the one who kept pushing us to work faster to dating, all of us together, including Jimin, knowing he wasn’t fully ready yet.”
“I know Joon hyung, but maybe… That was a mistake. Him being in his own room tonight, might not be such a bad thing. Anyway, I’m tired. Let’s go home and come back tomorrow. We still have time to perfect things.”
“Guys? Guys? GUYS!!!”
“Yoongi hyung? Why are you shouting this early in the morning?”, Jungkook asked confused, voice still raspy.
“Jimin… He’s gone!”
“What? Of course, he isn’t gone. Maybe he just went to the rehearsal room earlier so he wouldn’t have to see us? I mean… After yesterday, I wouldn’t be surprised if he is going to give us the cold shoulder.”, Namjoon says, trying to reason with the oldest rapper.
“NO! JIMIN IS GONE!”, Yoongi shouts, “Why won’t anyone listen to me and take me seriously. If this is how Jiminie felt, no wonder he got that upset with us.”
“Calm down honey and tell us why you think he left.”
“Don’t honey me, Jin hyung. Not now. Just get out of bed and help me find Jimin. Also, if you think of going to look into his bedroom. Don’t. I have combed out the entire house, including his room that is void of any of his awards, his pictures of us, his cups of way too hot ramen and all of his clothes. It’s empty. Everything that is Jimin’s is gone… Even the pictures of him that we have in our livingroom are gone. Seriously, all of our group photo’s, everything that had Jimin’s face on it… It’s gone. I don’t get it. Did he obliviate our memories? I mean, that couldn’t work, because then we wouldn’t remember him, but we do… So then why is he missing everywhere else… GOD! What the hell happened?!”
“I’m sure there is a logic reason for it. He’ll probably walk into the room tonight and tell us it was all a joke.”
“Kook-ah… Jimin might be playful, but he is not a pranker.”, Hobi says, getting worried.
All of them get out of bed to follow Yoongi into the kitchen. There is something missing, but they can’t pinpoint what it is, until Yoongi asks them to count the chairs. When they only notice six, where yesterday they clearly had seven, it dawns on them that something isn’t right. Never once have they excluded a boyfriend on purpose, no matter how annoyed they are with each other. For one chair to be missing… On top of that, their sets of plates, chopsticks, cups… exists out of six and not seven. Even the cactus Jimin once bought, because it was adorable, has gone missing… None of them are hungry anymore and the fear of what has happened to their youngest increases with every room they investigate. They know Yoongi said to not waste time on looking for their maknae in the house, but what if he missed something. What if they notice something that Yoongi didn’t… Unfortunately, they come out empty handed and it annoys them to no end.
“Maybe he really is in the dance studio? If he is, we can ask him why he packed everything and bring him back home.”, Namjoon rambles, “I need him back. Why did I get annoyed at him yesterday? Why did we go to bed without talking things over? I already miss him.”
“Yeah… Why did we even think we needed a break from him? He thinks differently about a lot of things, but isn’t that the reason why we like him so much?!”, Hobi puts his face in his hands, “He is my baby. I raised him, I am still raising him and I will never stop, but now he’s gone and God knows when I am seeing him again… I need my Jiminie in my arms, safe and well. Why do we always let our emotions take over when it comes to him? Bring me back my Mimi!”
With Hoseok wailing loudly, screaming for the younger, guilt and fear seeps into everyone else's veins. Worried about their maknae, they drag the crying dancer towards the door, help him put on his shoes, to quickly make their way to the car. None of them notice the slight drizzle, none of them notice the cold wind, none of them notice that they aren’t wearing a coat and are, slowly, getting wet. Finding the car, that they parked hastily the night before to make sure whether Jimin actually made it home, is quite the task when they can’t remember where exactly they left it. By the time they close the doors behind them, ten minutes have passed, ten very long minutes that they couldn’t really miss. What if their maknae actually ran away from home, with how fast and how smart he is, he could have put a lot more distance between them, a distance they can’t bridge in a short amount of time. Does that mean they won’t see their boyfriend again for a while or ever?
Silently they are shooting a prayer to the man above, though none of them believe in him, they’ll try everything right now. The only one out of the six men who is still somewhat consumed by his frustration is Taehyung, but even he is putting that aside until they find Jimin back. Yet, he knows he can’t let their fight slide, not now. To him, Jimin shouldn’t have run, he shouldn’t have been this stubborn and he should most definitely not hide himself now… No… He can’t stand it and he will, for sure, call his boyfriend out on his petty behavior. Though his mind keeps repeating the advice his dad once gave him, advice he needed to remember last night before going to bed. “Tae, a fight is always between two people, two people who have both made mistakes. Never forget that. If that person means something to you, no matter how you define your bond, then talk it out before going to sleep. Please, don’t go to bed angry. The next day is never promised. Anything can happen in a short amount of time. Also, take this from an old man, if you are fighting with someone, it means that you care about them. Otherwise, you just couldn’t be bothered. You’d tell the other person that they are right and move on. As long as you are willing to fight with someone, don’t give up on them.”
Why couldn’t he just remember that last night? While yes, he is properly annoyed with the younger, he also feels his heart breaking at the idea of sleeping another night without him in their room, another day they can’t spend with him, another day of not watching him perform, another day of not witnessing his utter brilliance, as a performer and as their boyfriend.
They don’t find Jimin in the dance studio, they also don’t find him in the recording booth or the cafetaria. What makes it even worse is that whenever they ask people about Jimin they all look confused. Some people even repeat his name as if it is the first time they hear it. Which doesn’t sit right with them. In the meeting later that day, nobody mentions their maknae. They don’t ask the men where their seventh boyfriend is, they don’t worry about him, they don’t even talk about his future solo plans, though it was clearly stated in the beginning of the week that they were going to focus on that, just like they previously had six meetings focusing on their solo work. At the end of that meeting, when they inquire about Jimin’s plans, the staff looks at them with question marks in their eyes.
“Jimin? I’m sorry… Who is Jimin?”
“Mr Bang… What are you on about? You were the one who selected him yourself because you thought he was too talented to be a trainee despite him only having joined the company six months prior to his debut. The thought of him being placed in a different group didn’t sit well with you and on top of that, you believed six people didn’t look as good as seven, which was an extra reason to add Jimin to BTS. You also always jokingly stated that he was your favourite out of the seven of us, if not in the entire company, because at least he listened to you. And now you are going to tell me that you don’t know him? This is insane! What kind of joke are you playing here? Did Minnie ask you to do this? Is he that upset with us?”, Namjoon says in disbelief, “I know we often play the hyung card on him and that we have told him on more than once occasion that we have more experience in this field to win discussions from him, but come on… This is just cruel.”
“Namjoon. If this Jimin person is as amazing as you say he is, I would have remembered him. That is if he were real. We never had a Jimin audition to this company. The records of everyone who ever tried to get into our company are in the archive, you can go look it up, I won’t stop you.”
“Mr Bang, where are you keeping him? Are you putting him against us? Are you siding with him?”, Yoongi looks at their boss sternly, “I’ve always seen you as a father figure, but that can end any minute.”
“If you feel the need to not trust me anymore, that’s up to you Yoongi. I am not going to beg you to believe me. All I know is, there is no one with the name Jimin in our company. I have never once wanted to put seven members in this group. Six was always the original idea and the entire team has stuck with that. Listen to your albums, you’ll only see and hear six people. Your music videos only contain six people, unless there were dancers involved. Ask Halsey if she ever collaborated with a seven-member band? Ask her about this guy named Jimin. From your ramblings, I take it you think he is your youngest member, but your maknae is Jungkook. He always has and always will be. There is no Jimin.”
“You are lying.”, Tears are spilling from Hobi’s eyes, who by now feels so lost without the younger clinging on to him.
While they all love each other equally, the hyungs each had one person they looked out for the most. Namjoon and Yoongi always knew exactly what Tae needed, Jin had that same bond with Jungkook, but Jimin… Jimin was his favourite. He would never say it out loud, but the others would always see it. They’d often say “Hoseok will always be number one to Jimin and Jimin will always be number one to Hoseok”. They were that close. Why had he forgotten about that in the past few months when he decided to agree with the older members instead of with his Minnie. He always knew the younger had a clear vision on their performances and he also knew that he was always so right about it, that he knew what worked so well on stage. Hobi never thought Jimin wanted to shine the brightest, that’s not why he suggested to keep the contemporary, he just knew it would wow the audience. Another thing he knew is that Jimin would place himself in the back more in the next routines, to make sure everyone had their time in front of the camera… Why didn’t he tell that to the others, why did he not defend his baby. Jimin always hated being misunderstood and once they ganged up on him, he would lose the ability to think and form words because it would stress him out… He knows this, he knew it yesterday as well…
“Look, I wish I could help you find this Jimin, but he isn’t here, he isn’t real. Go home, relax. Maybe the workload is getting to you or maybe you woke up in the middle of a weird dream and you believe for that said dream to be real… But right now, you are wishing someone into existence that does not exist. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help.”
Watching Mr Bang leave, they have never felt this defeated. Jimin’s biggest cheerleader has no clue who he is… how is that even possible?
“Did we actually make him up? Did we dream him alive? This can’t be. We don’t share dreams do we? What is this?! Am I losing my mind?! Where is Jimin! Give me back Jimin!”, Jungkook cries.
One by one the men start crying for their maknae. The guilt and sadness pushes through their walls and has them breaking down. No one knows how long they are sitting in their chairs, heads on the table, crying for their youngest. They only wipe away their tears when they hear a knock on the door.
“Excuse me, I don’t want to hurry you out of this room, but I should have started cleaning this area fifteen minutes ago… There’s an evening meeting here and it’s my job to make sure the room is spotless.”, The cleaning man informs them.
“Ah, we are sorry for keeping you from your work.”, Jin apologizes, “We’ll leave. Sorry, once again.”, They bow at the man, then walk away in no particular direction.
“What now? Where are we going? I’m not going home until I found Mimi. His absence freaks me out.”, Yoongi shakes his head, “Why did we pick that fight with him again? If only we had listened to his suggestions we wouldn’t have been in this situation… My poor baby has gone missing, not even that, he just went ‘POOF’. Up in smoke!”
“Maybe he just left?”
“No Kook-ah. He didn’t. We know he wouldn’t. That’s not who he is. Jimin will fight for us until the end. The only reason for him to walk away is if we send him away. The furthest he’s been away from us is at home when we were in the rehearsal room or the recording studio. It’s a given that when he’s upset, he locks himself up in his room. Once he is cooled down, he comes back to us, because apparently we never go to him after an argument anymore... Why did we stop doing that, we used to be the ones who went to him. Until we didn't...”, Yoongi replies.
“The one time we go to him, he’s nowhere to be found… What if wormholes and alternate universes do exist?”, Tae mumbles.
“Let’s go to the archives and see if there actually isn’t any record of Min. I don’t know what else to do, but I can't give up. Not yet.”, Namjoon says, looking desperate.
“I doubt there is anything down there. Wouldn’t it just be wasting time?”
“Maybe so Jin hyung, but what other option do we have?”, Hobi asks the older.
Looking up, trying to read the direction boards hanging from the ceiling, they don’t notice the two women who walk up to them. With their heads hidden behind a newspaper, they walk into Hoseok, who lands painfully on the floor.
“Oh, we are sorry. The story in this newspaper was just too good to stop reading and in our defense, people don’t generally stand in the middle of the hallway, so we didn’t expect someone to be here. That doesn’t take away that we should have looked where we were going.”, One of the women apologizes.
“What is so interesting that you were willing to walk blindly into a hallway?”, Tae scoffs.
“Oh, it’s about last night's unexpected meteor shower. No one saw it coming, not even meteorologists, but apparently the number of falling stars was insane. The article also states that a massive amount of people had their wishes come true. From people on the brink of breaking up to being madly in love again to people finding lots of money in a floorboard under their bed, also expensive houses decreasing in value which is resulting in so many homeless people being able to buy them for no money. One family even found their son back that went missing 15 years ago.”, The other woman informs them.
“Wait… People’s wishes coming true? When was this? The meteor shower?”, Tae asks, voice filled with panic and fear.
“Yesterday evening. From around 11 pm until 1 am. Or that’s what the newspaper says.” The first woman, holds her newspaper out to Taehyung, who grabs it and skims over the article, trying to take in as many words, but failing miserably.
“This is my fault. This is literally all my fault.”, He whispers. Slowly, he legs start to cave in, so he allows himself to fall down until he is seated next to Hobi. Putting the newspaper on the floor, Tae feels his limbs go numb. The only thing he can do, is think back to last night and the specific words he spoke.
But there are moments where I wish they would have just kept the band at six members.
I wish for Jimin to not be here for a bit so we can relax, not fight every minute of every day and find the beauty in love again.
He remembers wishing upon Jimin’s absence at least twice and he wouldn’t be surprised that him and his big mouth ended up doing even more damage. Letting it sink in, he feels even worse than before. It’s him who made his soulmate disappear, it’s him who had been stubborn last night and couldn’t just go to their maknae’s room and talk things over. Maybe, if he had held him close, the younger wouldn’t have been wiped from existence.
“Tae? Tae? Are you okay? Hobi grabs the younger by the arm and shakes him a little. Tae, what is happening? Did we miss something?”
“It’s my fault. It’s all my fault.”, the younger mumbles.
“No, it isn’t.”
“Hobi hyung, yes it is. It’s all because of me.”
“You didn’t summon the falling stars, so how is this on you?”
“Do you remember what time we stopped rehearsing yesterday? What time we sat down and talked about Jimin? Do you know what time it was when we finally came home and went to bed?”
“No? I only remember that it was late. I guess that’s why we were all more annoyed than normal. We have been working hard and had almost no sleep.”, Namjoon says.
“Exactly, it was late. When Jimin left us, it was almost 11pm… We left the rehearsal room at around 11.35pm yesterday evening. I have mentioned at least twice that I wished for him to not be in our lives anymore and I have thought it at least twice more right before falling asleep which was a little over midnight. I have wished him away four times. FOUR TIMES! I messed everything up.”
“Wait… WHAT?!”, Jungkook roars, “YOU DID WHAT?!”
“Don’t pretend like you didn’t agree with him last night Kook. What were your words again?”
“I remember Yoongs”, Jin says, “Tae has a point, if Jimin hadn’t joined us, we would have started dating sooner and not wait until he was 22. With the five of you it was love at first sight. With Jimin I took longer, because he is so different.”
“I mean… I didn’t agree on not wanting to know Jimin. Just that having a group with six members might have been easier!”, Jungkook shouts.
“Do you hear yourself?! You basically said you didn’t want to be in a band with him and you admitted that you didn’t love Minnie from the get go. Honestly, last night… you made it sound like you could live without our maknae. Have you ever really loved him Kook?”, Yoongi asks, venom dripping from his words.
“How dare you?! It’s not because I didn’t love him from the start, that I don’t do so now. I can’t say those words unless I mean them. Are we trying to pin Jimin’s disappearance on someone? Do you need a villain in this story hyung?”, Jungkook shoots back at him, “Because you let him walk away as well, you left him alone in his room for the night, you didn’t apologize either for taking our side!’
“Guys! Stop it! There is no blame here. We all said things we should not have said last night and none of us fully disagreed with Tae either. All of this quarreling isn’t going to help us win Minnie back. We made a mistake, all of us. Several mistakes. We should have listened to him, we should have tried his suggestion, we should not have let him walk home on his own, we should have checked up on him last night and most of all, we need to learn to keep our thoughts to ourselves when we are tired and overworked. All of us are wrong, and knowing Jiminie, he’ll put some of the blame on himself. Now, none of this is going to help us or him. If Tae’s suspicion is right, and this freak meteor shower is the cause of all this, then what’s next? When is the next one? How can we bring our Minnie back? Because I refuse to be a band with just the six of us.”, Namjoon looks at his boyfriend, trying to gauge their reactions.
“If this is our new reality, I honestly don’t think we have an option. Whether we transported here, or Jimin is the one who vanished, we still have fans who we shouldn’t disappoint. That doesn’t mean that we have to write new music, because it wouldn’t sound right without Jimin, but we can ask our fans questions and try to figure out what is actually going on. If they also don’t have a clue who Jimin is… They wouldn’t lie to us, you know. Mr Bang has. Remember those birthday pranks he pulled on us? Besides, if it’s Jimin that has vanished from this world, then these are our fans you know. The one’s who have followed us from the get go. Are we really going to disappoint them my disbanding?”, Jin questions.
“True… Though I am not planning on writing new music unless we figured out what happened to Jimin.”
“I agree with Joon. We should also try to figure out how we can summon a new falling star. I’m only going to put my energy in something else, once I know where we stand. But let it be known that if we don’t find our way back to Jiminie, every song i’m writing from now on is for him. Every love song, every sad and depressed song. I will never stop mourning him.”, Yoongi states, “I also don’t know how long I can be a band without him in it. I miss his voice, his giggles, his energy, his stupid sense of humour, our bickering. I miss his smell, the blush on his cheeks, the delicate jewelry he wears and his fluffy clothes. I miss combing my hands through his hair, holding him close, comforting him when he’s upset. I miss making him laugh and blush whenever I compliment him. I miss his angelic voice and his very small hands that always drown in mine whenever we hold hands. If he really is gone, I will never be happy again and nothing will bring me joy, not even performing for our fans.”
“Yeah… If Jiminie is actually gone, I’ll write a few songs for a new album, but that’s it. It will be the last album I’ll ever make. I can’t do this without my Jiminie. He’s been my biggest supporter from the start and all I have done is take that for granted.”
“Hobi, we all have taken him for granted. I honestly don’t understand when we started expecting from him to always agree with us, but we did… And whenever he disagreed, we behaved like petulant children. We need to get him back, because we need to apologize to him and be better bandmates, hyungs and boyfriends.”, Namjoon takes a deep breathe, trying to stay calm. If he, as leader, starts freaking out… It’s safe to say, they all will.
“I can’t help but worry… Who knows where Jimin is… What if, he’s just beamed to this black hole of nothingness? He’s probably going to be scared and lonely. Minnie doesn’t like the dark… He’s also scared of being forgotten… What if he walks around here somewhere, and finds out no one remembers him? Or worse, what if he doesn’t remember who he is? What if he is just gone? Can you imagine a world in which Park Jimin does not exist?”, Jungkook whispers, scared to speak such an awful idea out loud.
“We are living in it now Kook-ah.”
“I refuse to believe it Jin hyung.”
Two days later they finish up their first livestream as a band of six. A livestream they only did to figure out as much as they could. Unfortunately, everything they feared has been confirmed by either their fans or the internet search they did the previous day. In this world, BTS is a group of six members, there has never been a mention of a seventh member, the plan has always been to debut them as a six-piece group. Their albums contain all of their songs, but Jimin’s parts are now mainly sung by Jin. Looking up Jimin’s family gives no result whatsoever. It’s as if the entire park family does not exist. Though, maybe they do… What if his family just isn’t known because Jimin isn’t an idol in this universe?
“Should we go to Busan?”, Jungkook asks out of the blue, breaking the silence that lingered between them ever since they turned off their laptop.
“What? Why?”, Hobi asks.
“Jimin might be there? We couldn’t find information on his family, but what if… Just imagine for a second okay… There is nothing to find because Minnie isn’t famous here. Maybe he was born to Mr. and Mrs. Park in Busan, but instead of coming to Seoul like our Minnie did, maybe he became a lawyer like his dad wanted him to. I’m not saying we need to knock on that door, march inside and cause a ruckus, but what is he’s there? What if our Mimi woke up there two days ago, has no idea what is happening to him? Or what if Jimin is just part of this universe and he doesn’t know anything else but his family and law school? We can maybe befriend him and keep him safe until everything goes back to normal. I know it sounds stupid but I’ve seen too many films were the past or the future was changed and everything turned to hell. I don’t want our Jimin to die, because the Jimin of this universe couldn’t stay alive…”, Jungkook murmurs.
“I’m not sure we’ll find something, but it can’t hurt to try. We have nothing to lose at this point.", Yoongi agrees, "Let's go tomorrow. We have nothing better to do."
They all agree. None of them have a clue of what to expect, but it's better to have a plan than just sit down and do nothing.
