I'm Ren Shindo, currently working for Shibuya company. I barely started working here two months ago. It's been pretty hard getting used to this job, but with the help of my trainer, Itsuki Tachibana I've been able to find my footing here.
At first I was a little embarrassed to ask Itsuki questions, until I found out quickly that he's actually a pretty nice guy. He's kind, understanding, hardworking, and not to mention really beauti-I meant... nevermind.
Over time I've gotten to get closer to Itsuki. I learned that he's an only child like me, likes the color green, but not the dark or bright shades, and he also likes playing sports in his free time.
This week the department I'm in is going to have a big meeting. I don't know what it's exactly going to be about, but some are saying it's about figuring out who's going to go to the next business trip. If I had to guess, I think Itsuki will get the job since he's well liked by our clients.
But I guess I'll only truly know what it'll be about once it's happening.
"So glad that everyone could make it here to this meeting" My boss started with. " As you guys have suspected this meeting will determine who will go on the overseas business trip. Everyone who is available during August 15 through the 20th raise your hand. "
Almost two thirds of the room raised their hands, including mine. "Okay...I guess I'll pick based on performance." The boss looked around the room and as I suspected he pointed at Itsuki.
"Tachibana! Why don't you go on the trip you're perfect for the job!" Itsuki eyes widened, "Oh I couldn't possibly go I have a trainee to take care of!" His eyes wandered toward me. It made me a little frustrated to be honest. I'm not some little kid who doesn't know what to do. I mean I've been here for two months already! It's kinda insulting that he won't go on the trip because he's worried about me being on my own.
"Oh come on Tachibana, Shindo will do fine on his own please take the business trip." Itsuki's eyes looked uncertain until the boss quickly added "Or to help Shindo get experience in the field, he can join you on the trip! How does that sound to the two of you?"
Me and Itsuki's eyes met with eachother. I'm not sure if it was the lighting but I could've sworn his eyes brightened just a little bit.
I looked away and responded to the boss. "Only if you think it's the right decision, I'm fine with someone else taking the job." Before the boss could respond to me Itsuki quickly announced "I think it's a wonderful idea for Shindo to come! It'll prepare him for future tasks."
I looked over to Itsuki and he was practically bouncing off his chair. He must be really excited about this trip.
"Wel then that settles it, Shindo and Tachibana will go on the overseas business trip. Everyone return back to your tasks."
A week after the meeting it was finally time for me and Itsuki to start our business trip. Our flight was going to take off at 9:30. Itsuki suggested that we arrive at a cafe an hour before the plane leaves get breakfast and chill out in the airport for the remaining time. It was a solid plan.
We decided to go to a small cafe near the airport called Tea Time.
