It must be a new record, Peter thought bitterly, for a new employee to be called into HR less than three hours after starting a new position.
A stern-looking woman with hair pulled up in a tight, white bun glared at him over her glasses. “Mr. Parker,” she started.
Peter burst into tears. “I’m being fired l, aren’t I?”
Without even waiting for him to compose himself, she said, “Tell me, Mr. Parker, did you have any idea who Mr. Stark was before meeting him in the office today?”
Groaning, Peter buried his head in his hands. Yep, he was definitely getting fired. Who didn’t recognize Tony Stark on sight? Except for Peter Parker, apparently. “I know it sounds hard to believe, but I honestly didn’t know it was him at the club on Friday. He introduced himself as Tony, and how was I supposed to guess a billionaire CEO would be at Bottom Feeders?”

Mr. Stark, who's been tinkering with something that looks alarmingly like a miniaturized nuclear reactor, drops it with a loud clank. He turns around so fast, Peter's half-convinced he's going to get whiplash just from watching.
"Care to run that by me again?"

"What? No! Jesus," Peter waves his arm, trying to backtrack from the conversational cliff he's just hurled himself off. "Not like that."

Peter exits the taxi and takes the luggage out of the trunk. He stares at the building in front of him and doubles check to see if he got the address correctly. Looking at the group chat he has with his two brothers, he compares the picture Bucky sent back when they first moved in. Holding the phone up so the picture and the building are side by side, and aside from the nearby trees being dead in the photo, it looks the exact same. Smiling to himself, he walks up to the door tucked between a flower shop and a tattoo parlor and notices that he has to be buzzed in. Not wanting to ruin the surprise, he looks inside to see if someone would let him in.
