When Lucifer stabbed Cas the day Jack was born, Dean's hail-mary to save his best friend had unintended consequences. The aftereffects leave Dean reeling as he realizes the life he knew was over. Cas rests his chin just above Dean’s sternum, brooding. “Then what is the nature of our arrangement?”
Dean scratches the back of his head. “I dunno, Cas, we’re friends, at least, right? Friends, they hang out,” he loosely gestured between their naked bodies—a rather unfortunate example, considering Cas was still inside him. Right.
He wriggles his hips pointedly, wincing at the dampness. “Uh, Cas, could ya—” Castiel pulls out, using his grace to dissipate the uncomfortable wetness smeared over Dean’s thighs before they bleach his precious seats — “Yeah. Thanks, buddy.” Dean offers a small, approving smile, patting him on the shoulder, as friends do.
And, as all friends do, Dean yanks Castiel in for a kiss that’s all teeth and tongue.

“Hey, Jimmy," Dean nods curtly, scanning his surroundings. "Have you, uh, seen Cas recently, by any chance?"
“No,” Cas says, like a liar.
Cas panics when he sees Dean in Heaven and pretends to be Jimmy Novak. He's working himself up to telling Dean the truth, though. He swears.
