Derek’s face practically touches the screen, heart thudding wildly, fingers twitching, knowing he’s making a mistake. He glances at Stiles, still asleep, barely breathing through parted lips, unaware. Curiosity claws at him, louder than reason.
His hands move before his thoughts catch up. He taps the up arrow once, then again, harder, faster, practically jamming the key in a frantic flurry. Maybe if he goes fast enough, the guilt won't catch him first. His eyes scan the flickering blur of words that scroll upward in jumps and stutters, until the screen settles.

Stiles met Derek when he was a sophomore in college and while Derek hadn’t said anything, he’d seemed interested, and Stiles has talked to himself for hours at a time, so talking to Derek, even though he was carrying the conversation, was easy.
Two years, a bunch of dates, and several big moments later, and Stiles and Derek are still going strong. Stiles sits on their shared bed, in their shared apartment, deciding whether he should pack his laptop on their trip to Derek’s families house for Christmas.
