Summary
Ryan’s mouth lifts at one corner in a half-smile. “What, are you scared?” he goads.
“No,” Naim shoots back defensively.
“C’mere, then,” Ryan challenges, extending a hand out to him.
After his father’s death, Naim’s mum uproots both their lives and moves them to a small town out in the bush. Naim’s opinion of Bandee is that it’s a boring shithole in the middle of nowhere with no one interesting and nothing to do—at least until he meets a boy named Ryan Whelan. Ryan is tall and handsome, charming, impossible to forget—and has the potential to ruin Naim’s life.
Certainly, he’ll change it forever.

Summary
"Do you always come to the door dressed like that?" Emily heard herself ask, and immediately hated it, because it had come out as though she'd noticed, when the entire point was that she had not.
"Only when someone knocks." The corner of the woman's mouth went up. "Should I have changed? You'd have waited. I'd have liked knowing you were out here waiting for me."
"Is this how it works over here? You do a favour and then flirt with the woman on your doorstep and call it neighbourly?"
"Is that what you think I'm doing? Flirting?"
--
Or the one where Emily ends up letting the vampire who is great with her children drink her blood once a week for purely practical reasons. Like super practical. So practical. Please stop looking at her like that, Serena.

"I didn't think you would come," Jesper said quietly, the weeks of imprisonment obvious on his bruised and thin frame.
"Of course I came," Kaz replied.

After getting imprisoned in the Van Eck dungeon, Jesper Fahey expects death, he expects pain, he expects misery. He doesn't expect rescue. He doesn't expect kindness. And he certainly doesn't expect to find it in a vampire.
