Summary
This is the second of my "Pat Cartwright" stories, building an AU involving the Cartwrights of the Ponderosa. The Cartwrights become swept up in adolescent emotions, adult romance, an epidemic and a spot of Irish rebellion. This story will have 21-22 chapters; it was originally released in November of 1997, but in rereading it last year when I re-issued the first of the series, "As Ye Sow" I felt it needed a stronger editing job. New chapters will be released each Wednesday beginning with today, August 5th - Goddess willing!

Adam let out a chuckle at Little Joe's theatrics before tapping his left cheek with his index finger. “C'mon. Give me a kiss before I go.”
Little Joe's frown immediately disappeared as he launched himself at Adam and threw his arms around the man's neck, giving Adam a peck on the cheek.
Adam laughed at the rapid change of attitude and returned the gesture, causing Little Joe to giggle when Adam's stubble brushed against his own cheek.
Springtime is here, six year old Little Joe discovers his love for flowers, and Adam is tasked with laying out the rules for the new hired hands while their father is away, leaving Adam in charge of the Ponderosa.
