“Fucking vault-dwellers,” he murmured not too quietly under his breath. She skidded to a halt and crossed her arms in defiance. Charon also stopped when he realized she was no longer following him. With a groan he dropped the satellite dish to the ground and mimicked her posture.
“What ever do you mean?” Eve huffed.
“I mean that you vault-rats have a warped perception of reality. You think you can just swoop in and rescue me like I am some damsel in distress?” He shot her a scowl that exposed his yellowing teeth, “I do not need to be saved, princess.”
Her face flushed the more he snarled at her. Did he want to stay rotting under Ahzrukhal’s boot?
“That's not fair,” she complained, “I just wanted to return the favor-”
“Suck it up, kid. The wasteland is not fair. Whether I am employed to you, Ahzrukhal, or any other stupid fuck- my life remains the same. As it has been for two hundred years. You must think very highly of yourself, mistress. If you really wanted to save me you would put a bullet in my brain,” he bent down and scooped the dish back into his arms, “Not that I trust your aim.”
