Persephone Lancaster is trying to keep her enormous family out of the poorhouse. Trouble is, that's impossible unless her father starts being sensible (he won't), and her younger sisters find employment - and since they don't have as much education as people might suppose, that means going into backbreaking service as maids, at the mercy of their employers.
But since Adam's friend Harry thinks they'd be a perfect match, both of them decide to hold their noses and make the best of things.
Trouble is, neither of them think 'the best' will work.
