    Shane just looks at Ilya for a moment and he knows Shane is trying to come up with a reason to argue. But Ilya also knows this is exactly what Shane needs, really needs, and he eventually nods his head in agreement.

    “Good boy,” Ilya praises and kisses Shane’s forehead.

    Shane goes from practiced disassociation to pee autistic meltdown at the Voyagers shitty treatment. Ilya shows up and reminds Shane he has a Dom who will do anything to help him, if only he's honest enough to talk.

    Or: When the Voyagers take the leak about Shane and Ilya as bad as Ilya always worried they would, Shane puts his head down and keeps doing his best. Right until he's falling headfirst into serious autistic burnout without his boyfriend, and Dom, to catch him.

    Good thing ten years is enough time for Ilya to know Shane's breaking point.

    They’re both talking around the same thing without actually talking about it. Shane’s stomach is in knots. He wants to lay himself at Ilya’s feet and beg:

    Just make me do it. Tell me I have no choice. You know I want to. You know me.

    (or: shane knows what he wants. it's the asking and letting himself have it that's the hard part.)

    “None of them are worth your gift,” Jean retorted, ignoring the finger. “You deserve better. If they were Doms worth their weight in salt, they would know how to take better care of you, and would have put you in your place so you would not dare to say you have had enough aftercare when you so clearly have not.”

    Or, Jeremy is having a hard time finding a good Dom at the BDSM club Jean works at, since Jean keeps warning his play partners away after they don't do enough for him. Jeremy thinks if Jean's so certain no Doms are good enough for him, Jean should do it himself. It's a little more complicated than that.
