Summary
The thing about vampires was that it was difficult to know that someone was a vampire unless they A) told you they were a vampire or B) bit your neck and started drinking your blood. Option A was suspicious because ever since The Great Unveiling in the '80s, “Yo, I’m a vampire broooo” was tossed around so much that actual admissions were confused with jokes. Option B was much less murky.
That was why it took 3 years and Option B for Shane Hollander to realize that his hot Russian situationship was actually, for real, a vampire.
OR: Ilya is a vampire. Shane is catastrophically oblivious. It works out for them with only a little (or a lot) of blood loss along the way.

Summary
Now that Shane has started his sophomore year at Boston University, he wants nothing but to focus on his classes, play hockey, and forget about The Incident that happened at the end of his freshman year. Of course that would be easier without Ilya Rozanov, who lives in the same frat house as him, reminding him of it every three seconds.
Ilya wants to finish his studies and go pro. His father is paying for him to be here on the condition that he passes all his classes before signing a contract. He should be focusing on that rather than thinking about the boy two doors down from his bedroom.
And what's the best way to get over someone you can't stop thinking about? Get under them of course.

“Tell me why I should take you instead, Hollander,” Rozanov ordered. He pronounced every syllable in his last name and purposely drew it out.
"You want silence. Think about the silence that comes from permanently ending a bloodline. Think about the silence that comes after the scream of a mother who has lost her only child. If you want her to suffer the way you have, then let me take her place and let her live with that. Take me instead of her.”
Rozanov appeared to be considering the offer. He angled his head at Shane before speaking, “Shane Hollander, do you want to pay the debt your family owes to me by taking the place of your mother?”
“Yes,” Shane replied without hesitation.

Summary
“Ilya?” his voice is thick and heavy on his tongue. He's so agonizingly beautiful, his face tender and red from the impact of his helmet hitting the ice moments before. “I’m okay,” he insists, blinking slowly.
And then, starting at his fingertips, Shane starts to fade away, just like St-Simon and Marlow and Pike moments before. Eyes soft, Shane gazes at Ilya, not seeming to realize what’s happening at all. And Ilya, overcome with terror, can only watch as Shane’s whole being simply disintegrates into thin air.

Half the universe is snapped out of existence, including Shane.
Ilya struggles to cope.Or, a character study on grief, ending with reunion.
