“Oh! Hello, where’d you come from, little guy?”
Mira turned back to Zoey, seeing her reaching down for something just under the table. She straighten back up, a toddler in her arms.
“What the—” Mira blinked, words vanishing as Zoey set the little boy on her lap and cooed at him. Rumi had already turned away, signaling to Bobby who was approaching them, and that was deeply unfair. Why was Mira the only one having her brain scrambled by the cuteness in front of her? Why wasn’t Rumi subjected to her own heart beating wildly in her chest?
“Aren’t you so cute?” Zoey cooed. “Look, Mira, he’s wearing our merch! Our littlest fan!”
The toddler blinked at Mira with wide eyes and stuck a thumb in his mouth. He wore the same HUNTR/X shirt Bobby loved best.
“Zoey, why do you have a baby?”
Mira never wanted children. Her parents turned her off the idea, but Rumi and Zoey begin to change her mind--not on purpose but just by being themselves. Thankfully, all three of them are alphas so Mira has plenty of time to unpack her own feelings from her parents' expectations. Unfortunately, Mira didn't consider that secondary genders are not as static as most people believe.

The demon's shock slowly turned into confusion. "What are you doing here?", she asked warily, looking around for something for a moment. "Who do you belong to?" Her eyes had obviously caught the gleaming cuffs on her wrists – that was the whole point of them, Zoey supposed. Okay, she was looking around for someone then.
"Uhm", Zoey hummed awkwardly, narrowing her eyes as she tried to figure out how best to answer that. Not the trader, she'd already been successfully sold. Not Jinu, he was just an in-between. She really didn't want to say Gwi-Ma and certainly couldn't say Celine. Finally she shrugged helplessly and said: "You, I think?" She flinched as the demon's brow furrowed further, her other eye also turning gold. "If your name is Rumi", Zoey added desperately, shrugging and trying her best at a smile. "Jinu sends his regards?"
Zoey is sold as a sex slave to a hermit demon who seems to have less than no interest in such an arrangement.

Summary
Rumi considered it—she normally gave in quickly—but the way she’d looked at her before she kissed her neck, and the way she’d reacted to Rumi threatening to leave and finish herself off, was echoing around her brain. She was forming a theory, and she needed to test it.
She hooked a finger under Mira’s choker, pressing her knuckle gently against her throat, and tugged. She felt more than heard the way it made Mira’s breath hitch. She did it again, and this time Mira’s nails dug in deeper involuntarily.
Which was a very interesting reaction.
While Zoey's away Mira learns something new about Rumi.

Another woman walked on stage, wearing a long, form fitting teal cocktail dress and heels that added a few inches but still didn't put her anywhere near Mira's height, her round face framed by the loose strands of hair that hadn't been tied back into space buns. She wore so much brightly coloured jewellery that she jingled when she walked.
Rumi sat upright.
She was gorgeous.
Rumi attends a talent show at the request of her best friend and gets pulled on stage by a very pretty magician. She didn't have any choice but to fall in love.
