Normally, Luffy just starts whining and complaining and ends up asking for food, and normally Ace puts up a fight for approximately a minute before giving in. Sabo gleefully points out every time the time goes down; Ace flips him off every time.
Now, though, Luffy’s just burying his face deeper into Ace’s shoulder. “Ace,” Luffy whimpers, and Ace is instantly on high alert.

Wei Wuxian dies during the siege of the Burial Mounds thinking, at the very least, he’s earned some peace. He’s wrong. His soul doesn’t scatter to the void. Instead, it’s caught, pinned, and informed that this is what happens when you break the rules of the living and the dead in the same lifetime.
“You stepped beyond mortal bounds,” he’s told. “You created an abomination that should never have existed...”
And Heaven, apparently, has time to hold a grudge. So, as punishment: he doesn’t get to rest. Not in this afterlife. His soul becomes bound to resentment itself, condemned to rise again wherever the cry for vengeance is strong enough to drag him back. Whoever they are, whatever they’re suffering, whatever they can’t finish – that’s his problem now. Strangers’ faces. Strangers’ lives. Strangers’ revenge plots. He wakes in the middle of all of them, expected to put things right with whatever strength the body has left.
Resentment calls. Wei Wuxian answers.
