Summary
The thing Nie Huaisang did not anticipate about successfully enacting a decade long revenge scheme is that afterwards he was left at a rather loose ends.
It wasn’t as if he’d spent every moment since his brother died wailing at the heavens and gnashing his teeth in Jin Guangyao’s general direction -- he did have a sect to run, and still does, but it had always been a thing to pick up and worry at during his idle moments.
On long carriage rides, during sect leader Yao’s speeches, at night when the canopy of his bed stretched further and further away from him and the edges spread out until he felt like the only star in an endless black sky, cold and untouched, he always had the candle of revenge to focus on.
And now he doesn’t even have that.
