Satoru blinks, and there’s only one pair, sweet as honey. He blinks again, and this man’s face—Satoru’s new senpai—becomes a whole lot more monstruous. He shoves his glasses up his head and secures them on his hair and promptly loses his breath.
“Hi,” Itadori repeats in the weighted silence, a hand coming up to push his hair back. His biceps must be bigger than Satoru’s head. Satoru doesn’t know whether to stare at them or at the guy’s inside, butchered and strangely hollow. It’s unlike anything he’s ever seen. “Uh. I’m Itadori Yuuji.”

Sukuna adjusts under Yuuji’s fingers, leaning into the grip instead of away from it. His breath slips out unevenly, pupils blown. He tilts his head farther back, baring the line of his throat beneath Yuuji’s hand. An offering, an invitation—submission edged in razor-sharp teeth.
His lips curl into something obscene and sugar-sweet, a smile far too gentle to be safe. Teeth flash in a slash of satisfaction, pure delight shaped like surrender, worn like a trap.

Mystery’s lips twist unhappily. Baby lets out an audible breath. “Yeah, okay, fair shot. Not our best moment.”
“If that’s ‘Not your best’, I’d hate to see what your worst one is.”
“What if I told you,” Baby continues, ignoring that comment, “Mystery and I wanted to undo it all. To dethrone Gwi-Ma.”
Zoey stares down at him, eyes narrowed. “I’d assume you’re full of shit.”
“Not even a little.” Baby insists. “Full loyalty to you and your cause. Insider information. Allies who can put up a good fight against any demons you come across. And we don’t even use up any of your resources.”
She wants to throttle him, but Mystery hasn’t dropped his hand, threatening to dig his claws in the second she tries to. “Why would you want to do that?” Zoey asks instead, not hiding her open disbelief at the idea.
They won, why would they want to go back?
(Or months after Gwi-Ma wins, Zoey finds herself teaming up with Mystery and Baby of all people. It seems she’s not the only one who didn’t like the outcome of the final battle.)
