    Summary

    “Wei Ying!”

It’s muted, and far off, but he’d know his name in Lan Zhan’s voice at any distance. He freezes, listening, heart in his throat. He tries to remind himself it could be the thing they're hunting, hunting him once more.

    "Wei Ying!"

He runs. He'd rather be dead ten times over than stay back if Lan Zhan is calling for him.

Wei Wuxian joins Lan Wangji and the juniors for a nighthunt. It gets more personal than any of them expect.

    Summary

Wei Wuxian laughs again. "Lan Zhan. Lan Wangji. Hanguang-jun. What an honor it is, to be graced by your presence today. Have you come to take me back to the Cloud Recesses with you?"

He doesn’t say, please take me back. Doesn’t say, sometimes I wish you’d taken me back with you all those years ago.

But Lan Zhan shakes his head, small and deliberate, the tiniest, most devastating shift in the world. Wei Wuxian exhales audibly.

"Wei Ying. I have come to ask you to take me away with you."

Three years ago, Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian saved the world. Now the world has moved on and they are left to pick themselves up and start anew. It takes them a while to figure it out. (A post-canon CQL getting together story.)

"Sorry," Wei Ying says again when the combination comes to an end. "I totally didn't mean to kick you."

    "Pay attention," Lan Zhan says.

Wei Ying kicks Lan Zhan three more times at the barre. He apologizes each time.

"Are you okay?" Wei Ying asks when barre exercises are over.

"Are you incapable of following a beat?" Lan Zhan replies.

The Yunmeng Heroes football team comes to take ballet classes at Lan Zhan's school. It turns Lan Zhan's entire world upside down.
