‘Uh, can you give me like, two minutes?’ Lok brought out, though he realised it was futile once he saw the fiery glint in his sister’s eyes. She strode past him as if she hadn’t heard him at all, dragging her suitcase behind her, and let neither Lok nor the wards Dante had on his house stop her.
‘You’ve caught me at a really bad time, actually…’ Lok carefully tried to smooth things over. In the meantime, he moved to hide as much as he could, haphazardly throwing things onto a pile and standing in front of it to block everything from view, all while hoping he wasn’t being too obvious. ‘How about we grab some tea at a café and talk there? I’ll give you a tour of Venice after, and we can—’
‘You can stop the whole charade, Lok.’ Cathy told him sternly. ‘I know about you and your friends, and about Mom, and Dad, and Scarlet. I know about your stupid necklace things.’
‘Amulets.’ Lok corrected her without even thinking about it. Half a second later, he realised what she’d just said, and his eyes went wide. ‘Oh.’
‘You can say that again.’
