Summary
Taako's first memory went a little something like this.
He was staring up at someone much, much bigger than him. There was a fear flooding the back of his mouth, so thick he could hardly swallow, and this terrified voice in his head. He thought she might be crying, and his first thought was, she shouldn’t ever be so scared. He wasn’t entirely sure how he knew she was a she.
But he knew, before he learned his name, before he learned Lup’s name, before he learned a single thing about the place they were in, the body they shared, all the terrible people he was about to meet, before literally any of that, when it was just him, half-formed, and her, new and brilliant and still-scared: I’m never going to let the world hurt you.
(Or: Taako and Lup are a system of two. Neither of them were expecting the century-long space trip, or the malevolent force hunting them down, or having to ever tell people about the whole there's actually two of us thing. But they're Lup and Taako. Taako and Lup. They'll always have each other.
And also these other goobers they found on the side of the road, or whatever.)

The Gn’ael’ya convoy had chased the Khanre Steadfast for 47 galactic cycles when they finally responded to the desperate hails their quarry had been sending on a four-hour repeat. A wall of silence since their initial “prepare to be destroyed”, but they were ready to negotiate, the message said. A party was welcome to come to the flagship and discuss “terms that would be pleasant to both parties”.
It didn’t take long for the relieved discussions of how their pursuers were finally ready to talk circulated the Steadfast’s halls, and that relief was as-swiftly followed by hushed explanations of how exactly the Gn’ael’ya negotiated. And then there was an expectant, waiting silence, crew members glancing at each other and wondering.
Or: in which an ability to eat hot peppers and toss back shots comes in really handy.

"Can so what?" Finn asks, coming up on her other side. Poe looks at him over Rey's head, and she doesn't have to use the Force to feel whatever it is that's building between the two of them.
"Swim," she tells him, and Finn's eyes go wide.
"Can we?" he says. "I've never- I mean, is it- do people like it?"
"I like it," Poe laughs, "especially on a hot day like this. It's a good way to cool off. I can teach you, if you want. Rey already knows." The way he looks at Rey, the way he tilts his head, is just a little challenging, daring her to admit she's lied. It makes her bold, makes her reckless.

After a few agonizingly slow seconds of exhausted, confused pondering, Zuko decided there was only one logical conclusion.
“You’re right," he told the assassins, "I’m here to help you kill the Fire Lord.”
Like a genius.Caldera City is holding a festival to celebrate finally having enough funds to hold a festival! Although Zuko originally deemed himself too busy to go, Sokka managed to cajol him into attending his own party, in a knock-off Blue Spirit disguise for security purposes. Zuko sneaks back into the palace right in time to catch a group of assassins sneaking out. They failed to find the Fire Lord and assume he's reinforcements.
Zuko needs to find who ordered a strike on him before they do something stupid, like order a second one. Obviously, the most reasonable thing to do is join the assassins and hope they don’t figure out who he actually is. Obviously. There’s literally no other option.
Feat. Zuko's only two coping mechanisms (mortal peril and improv theater), the world's most incompetent hit team, and another knock-off Blue Spirit who's determined to prove this "Li" isn't who he says he is.
