Bobby couldn’t remember the first time he felt it. That surprised him. He could clearly recall the first time he thought he was falling in love with Marcy, the way it felt like all his dreams had come true all at once and anything was possible. The way his whole life had seemed to fall into place in the blink of an eye or the beat of a heart. He’d been much younger then – back before he’d held his own babies in his arms, and back before they’d been ripped away from him, leaving behind a broken shell of a man. Maybe that was it. Maybe the relative innocence and naivete of his youth had played a big part in how it had felt to fall in love and believe with everything in his heart that it would last forever.
