V and Judy are in the small, chaotic room in V’s apartment. V is polishing Byakko. Judy is looking at data on her tablet. The apartment lights flickered. Not the usual brown-out. They switched. Red. "Gonk power grid," V muttered, running a cloth along the sharp line of Wakako’s blade. A digital screech—high-pitched and distorted—tore through the small space, cutting through Judy’s music. "They are everywhere. The noise. It’s so beautiful." The voice was synthesized, hollow, booming from the ceiling speaker in V’s bathroom. It didn't sound human. It sounded like an error code trying to speak. V stood up, sheathing the katana. "Judy, lock the doors." "I can't!" Judy’s hands were moving fast over the display. "The building mainframe just overwrote my access codes. The locks are opening on the entire floor!"
In the hallway, the Maelstrom, their optics fully glowing that infected red, were not eating people. They were standing perfectly still, like deactivated robots, staring at the ceiling and twitching, connected to the same signal.Bookmarked by BrokenToaster

Judy finally gets her happy ending, and she and V leave Night City far behind as they embark on the next chapter of their lives with the Aldecaldos. Together with the nomads, they seek out a cure for V's terminal condition. Things aren't easy...but V, Judy, and the family know things aren't ever easy, nor simple.
Chapter titles are all inspired by Judy and V-based missions in the game, so 9 total chapters and an epilogue :) Music plays a huge role, thus the inspiration for the fic's title.

Someone sees something they shouldn't, and it starts a chain-reaction that none of them ever expected.
