“Obviously it won't work, but we don’t really have a choice.” Carlos exhaled, rubbing at his eyes with the heels of his palms. Diego stood before him, a pained look on the young man's face. He stepped forward, and engulfed his younger cousin in a hug.
“Dammit.” he hissed, pulling his younger cousin, younger brother, closer, fighting to hold back tears. “I should have killed her. Years ago. I should have killed her so she couldn't have done this, so she couldn't have done anything to you.” He took a shaky breath.
Carlos shook his head, his own eyes stinging. “It wouldn't have worked…. Not then, not now. They’re too powerful.”

He wants one thing and one thing only right now. He doesn’t give a flying fuck about anything else. He needs to come, and he needs Satoru to help him do that.

Suguru is kidnapped while out on a mission. Satoru finds him naked and tied up in a warehouse. Suguru’s body betrays him with an embarrassing reaction, but he’s convinced everything will be fine as long as they never discuss it. Satoru isn’t so sure. Things spiral from there.

Lukewarm water spread across the floor, slowly turning pink as blood dripped steadily from the cut across his palm. Fragments of porcelain glittered beneath the dim kitchen lights while faint traces of unstable magic crackled weakly in the air.
The silence in the kitchen felt almost mocking.
Once, shattered porcelain would have mended itself before the first shard reached the floor. The water would have obeyed him, boiling instantly. The cut would never have existed.
Instead, he stood perfectly still while his own blood dripped into weak, cold tea.
