“You should marry my Izu-chan,” Joke continues, obviously warming to the subject as she straightens up with a face-splitting grin. “Just think, you can be my son-in-law!”
“Absolutely not,” Shōta resists the urge to gag at the very idea.
“Don’t be like that,” Joke reaches out to bat at the air in front of Shōta’s face. “My sweet Izu-chan is the best! You two would make the perfect couple.”
He resists the urge to snap his teeth at her fingers only by the fact that he’s spent years refusing to have any part of Joke in his mouth and he’s not about to ruin that streak now.
“One, your bloodline is cursed,” Shōta replies. “Two, I neither want nor need a child bride.”

Summary
It starts with a stray.
Sanji's life is simple - he works and lives at the Baratie, he surrounds himself with good food and talented chefs, he feeds countless amounts of people every day, and he is content. But he is lonely. Everybody he knows was thrown together by circumstance and misfortune, by eighty-five days on The Rock and a shared dream. When Luffy barges into his life with all the tact of a seadragon, Sanji suddenly finds himself surrounded by someone who has chosen him, who has seen him in passing and been fed by him and decided - mine. This one, he's mine.
But Luffy and his friends are hiding a secret from Sanji, and it's for his protection, honestly, and he'd never believe them if they told him the truth. But there are some things out of Luffy's control, some people who would do anything to hurt him, even if that means changing Sanji's life in ways he would never imagine.
Sanji has always wanted friends. He just never expected that being friends with Luffy would be biting off more than he could chew.

Summary
“You were lucky to survive that storm. Heard all about it in the news coo after it struck, how bad it was.”
Discussing it makes the stub of his leg itch. “I’ve sailed through far worse.”
It’s ironic, and another thought that’s hung around his mind like a bad smell, to return to the East Blue from the Grand Line, to trade a notoriously tricky sea for a simpler one, and then to lose his crew to home waters.
“Your son is lucky then,” the captain adds. Zeff blanches. Little surprises him, but at that Zeff nearly chokes.
“He’s not my son,” he sputters.

Sanji has never had a home or a dad before the Baratie. Zeff is figuring that out for himself.

Sanji doesn’t understand. He’s never really considered it before. He’s always been scolded for being too breakable, for not reaching the expectations that have been envisaged for him.
“It was a mistake, wasn’t it? An accident. You’ll never be in trouble for that.”
“I won’t?”
“Course not. Why would you ever be in trouble for being human?”

Sanji boards the Orbit as a stowaway after escaping from Germa. The cooks on board don’t see a failure, or a disgrace, or a failed science experiment.
They just see a kid.

While searching for Sanji, who suddenly went missing, the crew finds a boy in an iron helmet being kept in a dungeon. Naturally they save him. He comes with them as they search for their cook. The only problem is, they can't get that stupid helmet off.
