Summary
Dazai was the life of the office, constantly lightening up the mood and bringing up any sullen faces, he was the one who cheered everyone up, who did things to annoy them and did things to help them.
Dazai being quiet, sitting like a porcelain doll with a blank face and dead eyes, it wasn't right. No one liked it.

Dazai’s eyes drop to the phone held in Ranpo’s tight grip to the uncompromising set of his jaw, mentally weighting his options.
“That’s fair,” he huffs, holding up his palm in a ‘gimme’ motion. “I guess if it’s Ranpo-san, I can make an exception.”
Or, Ranpo is the only member of the Agency Dazai is not allowed to ignore or hang up on. Naturally, when the day finally comes, Ranpo knows, with inevitable dread, to expect the worst. He's right to.
