    Summary

Sokka had spent most of his childhood looking up.

He’d stare up at his father and the other warriors. He'd stare up at his mother and Gran Gran when they’d lean down to pick him up or press a kiss to his forehead.

He stared up at the older village kids, and up at the huge polar dogs roaming the outskirts, and up at the snow falling slow and lazy from the clouds high, high above.

Then he started to grow. The snow turned to ash, his mother died, his father left, and he didn’t have much to look up to anymore.

There was only one thing that stayed consistent, that always stayed far above his head, out of reach.

Glowing brightly and always pulling his attention– the Moon.

    ---

Sokka has been touched by the ocean spirit and it changes everything during the siege on the Northern Water Tribe.

    Summary

An anthology exploring the character and relationships of Iruka-sensei, both as a shinobi and a teacher. They range many relationships and time periods, and dwell in the same universe as my other stories. At the time they were written, they were canon-adjacent, though a few may have since veered a little to the left.

Umino Iruka didn't stand out in a crowd. It wasn't because he was particularly boring, only that he was particularly ordinary. He wasn't bubbly, or mysterious, or shy. He had unremarkable brown features - eyes, skin, hair. He sank in instead of standing out. Not very tall, not very short. Not very anything. There were those that admired his warm, easy smile, but for the most part he was merely Iruka.

The only thing singular about Iruka at all in appearance was drawn across his face. That odd, aberrant scar sat on the bridge of his nose and crinkled when he grinned and burned white when he blushed. It was like a little upward twitch of the mouth – secretive, special.

His children soon grew used to it, but with every new cohort, there was a fresh set of questions. “Iruka-sensei, what happened with your face?”

    Summary

Ambassadors from Grass come to Konoha in search of a legendary teacher, yet no one in the village matches their description. However, when it becomes clear that these shinobi bring a tempting offer, the Godaime must make a difficult decision.

"Ambassador Shouda," he said. Innate politeness won out over a more impulsive reaction. "Are you enjoying the festival?"

"It's convenient," the captain said as he drew closer, well into the teacher's personal space.

Iruka blinked, made uneasy by the cold demeanor. He took a step back, only to run up into another of the Kusanin. The man looked down at him without expression, and Iruka's instincts flared with warning. All around them was a nebulous of moving faces, but the attention of the crowd was directed towards the children's parade. Iruka was alone at the edge of a multitude.

    Summary

Through stubbornness and what Kakashi calls a ‘dazzling display of heart,’ Iruka somehow befriends the CEO of Hatake Corp, Hatake himself. And no, despite what Iruka’s friends might think, Kakashi is not his sugar daddy. Kakashi is giving and selfless, and he’s Iruka’s friend, kind and reliable. Sure, he does constantly try to buy Iruka things, and he’s attentive, almost overwhelmingly so, but that’s just how he is: Kakashi is lonely. He’s not used to having friends.

Besides, their relationship is totally platonic. There's no sugaring. If anything—and this is a big if—he’d be something like a… Sugar Friend. Yeah, something adjacent to that.

Iruka is becoming increasingly unsure if that is actually true.

    Summary

    They lost the war.

The bodies just continued to drop, one after another. It seemed endless, a crushing weight that just continued to fall. Surrounded by nothing and yet everything—the rotting corpses of friends and family, the smell and sound of war.

The screams of the lost and broken.

In an attempt to hide away until he succumbed to his wounds, Iruka Umino discovered a great secret beneath the tunnels of Konohagakure. A seal with a promise to good to believe; a seal that could turn back time.

At this point? He was willing to try anything.
