Summary
Prince Jacaerys Velaryon flies to Winterfell to treat with Lord Cregan Stark.

This is that story.
On either side of their lookout, the Wall extends further than the eye can see; a never-ending barrier of ice that shimmers even as it weeps—beautiful, yet haunting.
"Welcome to the edge of your realm," Cregan murmurs. His gruff tone has softened, the words brushing over Jace's ear in a caress, coiling heat in his belly.
The treeline echos the prince's paramour, rustling in the distance as if to greet Jacaerys. And he supposes it's an apt salute, for on the morrow, he will be the first Targaryen to step into the unknown beyond it.
A journey that begins with Jace's arrival in Winterfell, ends with his departure, and includes a three-part epilogue covering their lives together during his reign as king.

But it hadn’t been all that mattered. In the end, it had come down to the color of their too-curled hair and the set of their bones, and hearsay. But hearsay, for those wanting so badly to hear it, is often more than enough to send the ax falling.
Jace wraps one arm around Joff, lets the frigid fingers of his other hand tangle in his horse’s mane in search of the barest warmth, then follows the rest of the company down the ridge toward The Wall.

Stripped of their titles and sent to the Wall as punishment for nothing more than the blood in their veins, Jace and his brothers must face a new reality. And it is a cold and harsh one, indeed.
But there are, perhaps, places where the frigid strangle of winter can be quelled for just a moment, such as the hands and body and words of Cregan Stark; A man who knows what it is to lose titles and and home alike. A boy like Jace, who has lost and, very much despite himself, seeks companionship and warmth.

Ilya does mind. Hearing it said back to him, almost makes him flinch, a sudden and brittle sound right next to his ear that he fails to recoil from in time. But he swallows back the bitter truth and replies, “Of course not. If that is what you want.”
He waits, sitting on his living room couch, phone pressed painfully against his ear, his other hand gripping his knees till his knuckles blanched. He could feel his own heart rattling behind his ribs, pulse rockingloudly. His mind was an echo of alarm, demanding of him: Why isn't Shane saying anything?
It was the loudest silence he’s ever lived through, until Shane finally said, “Okay.”
OR: inspired by the fight in TLG where Ilya tells Shane he can sleep with other men. But this time, Shane actually takes the offer.
