And neither am I, Erik replied, leaning back against the headboard. I have no expectations. I just want to help, if I can.
Mental silence fell between them—Charles was still there, drifting carefully in the center of Erik’s thoughts, but he was thinking, guarding the quiet metronome of his thoughts from Erik.
What if this doesn’t work? Charles asked, uncertain.

Summary
This defense mechanism is a recently adopted habit of his. Nothing about Erik lately has given him any indication that he wouldn’t be open for a conversation. In fact, it’s shocking how open Erik has been. He expected something different… He’s not even sure what. Perhaps a few awkward first steps between them, considering how little they have talked to each other lately. Not for lack of trying, no, but simply… Charles had been too busy. Erik was presumed dead, and before, he had been ruling a nation. How could they even begin to talk?

Summary
Technically, Magical X-Men was something Magneto knew he should hate with every fiber of his being not devoted to hating ignorant humans. It was animated for one. For two, it featured an unbelievably optimistic protagonist whose adventures were, in addition to being flagrantly unrealistic, a method of inculcating wrong-headed lessons about how everyone could love each other and protect the earth and make the world a better place. Finally, it exercised an unreasonable attraction that turned every fan of the Magical X-Men into simpering, squealing teenagers. Only Magneto seemed immune.

“You're stuck with me now, so, better get used to it,” Peter had said, and Erik had begun to believe that after ten years of isolation, he had finally lost his mind.
When it comes to Peter, everything is fast. In less than five minutes, Erik had been properly informed that he had a son, that said son thought he was “absolutely off the shits, but, whatever”, had been provided with evidence that he was the father, and then informed that his son would be sticking around.
Erik keeps staring at him like he's not real.
“Uh-oh,” Peter says, having noticed Erik's silence for the past twenty seconds. “I feel like I broke you.”
Or, how Erik bonds with his son, gets back together with Charles, and continues to fight for mutants. Not in that order.

One mad idea, borne of a little too much of Charles' Scotch, might be so desperate as to actually work. Call it training wheels.
"Oh, and Charles?" Erik called back, hand on the door out of the Danger Room. Charles looked up, mildly surprised. "No one thinks I'm your fucking cousin."

Erik Lehnsherr and Charles Xavier were two of the most iconic faces of the figure skating scene of the mid-twentieth century. After retiring, they took on coaching the next generation; Charles coached the obsessive, perfectionist Scott who was determined to make his mark on the figure skating scene. And Erik coached the unapologetic, stubborn Emma who was persistent in becoming the future of figure skating.
But everyone has their breaking points, and after Emma and Scott reach theirs, they realize that they're going to have to work together to ascend again.
Their goal? To win gold in pairs figure skating at the Olympics.

Erik glowers a little less. “Flirting,” he repeats, bland but also maybe just very, very, very slightly, faintly, vaguely hopeful.
“Oh, yes,” Charles says absently, until something seems to strike him. “Don’t tell me you don’t…” He raises his left hand and brandishes the ring. “We promised ourselves to each other last week.”
