When Robby left for his sabbatical he didn’t plan on coming back. He wouldn’t have known what would’ve been waiting for him. But Jack's speech caused him to overthink everything and change the Route.
A planned suicidal trip turned into a trip of reflection. Now there's the one thing he need to tell his best friend. It's a confession that is able to either destroy everything they built through years of friendship or to take them to the next step.

He knows this face. He knows this man. He loves him.

All the breath left Jack, the room going cold at one more shock to the system. "But—I'm his emergency contact," he tried, because maybe the kid had misunderstood. He and Robby had talked about being emergency contacts, of course. But a lot of people didn't even list sex contacts because they weren't commonly needed, so registration treated them as optional. Jack didn't have one. Robby had never said a word about that.
Which made sense because he and Jack weren't fucking like that.
