Shatterstar curls in tighter and wraps a hand around Julio’s ankle. He says, “I would prefer if you never left my side again."
“Yeah. Yeah. Got it.”
Tremendous news. Shatterstar flies upwards, elated, overwhelmed with how sudden his joy is. “You have it?” he says, taking hold of Julio’s wrists so that he may see his face. “You agree, you will– Julio?”
His bottom lip trembles. The gloss in his eyes coagulates and pools at their corners, hangs off his eyelashes, as fresh tears well up and fall over his cheeks. Shatterstar drops Julio’s wrists to instead take hold of his face, one palm over each cheek.
“Julio?”
