“Fascinating,” the stranger purrs, the sound igniting something in Chase’s chest as his mouth falls slack of its own accord; liquid lightning in his veins, glacial melt trickling down his spine. “I wasn’t sure what it was that had caught my attention, but now I wonder how I ever missed you before.”
Chase swallows as his back hits the dresser pushed up against the back wall.
He demands again, “who are you?”“No one worth remembering,” the stranger laughs, dismissive once more, but there’s something in his amusement that catches like a spark. His laugh is a gentle sound that pours like merlot from the spout, washing across Chase’s mind, as if the words themselves are a command.
Part of him wants to get caught up in it; to drink in the flavour of his brontide voice; of the gravel that rubs against his skin like stubble in prelude to a stolen kiss; to lose his breath beneath this man—How could Chase forget? This stranger, this man, this heaven-sent angel who smiles with the beauty of Asmodeus reborn that pushes him deeper into the back wall, pinning him with his gaze.
