Summary
Song Lan watches Xue Yang crumple into the dust, Xingchen's soul clutched in one hand.
It's an abrupt ending. There’s blood and a vicious snarl on Xue Yang's mouth to the last moment. He looks similar to when Song Lan would watch him sleep, passed out from exhaustion at the foot of Xingchen's coffin; all the life drained from him. Small, almost.
Song Lan watches, the weight of years not yet lifted from his shoulders, and so misses the moment everything changes.
