After a few more agonizing seconds during which Peter weighs the possibilities that he just gave his mentor and the savior of the world a heart attack, Mr. Stark looks up at him, eyes suddenly wide.
A beat passes.
"What's your teacher's name again?"

“Some days, yeah.” Simon didn’t seem concerned. “Good days, usually. Some days I wake up convinced I’m dead and this is just the weirdest purgatory-adjacent afterlife. Or paradise. Or that I’m still actively dying and all this is an incredibly long hallucination my brain is running to keep me calm during the transition. But that one’s pretty easy to talk myself out of.”
“So every morning you have to sort out where your brain thinks you are that day?” he asked, all scientific curiosity gone. Simon gave an affirmative hum, more of an Eridian sound, affirmative in the note, than a human one, affirmative in the arrangement of notes. Grace thought of that morning, of every morning, where he had to piece together the blank emptiness of his mind. “I think I get it.”
