Carla’s jaw clenches when she hears the shower switch off in the ensuite.
She remains where she is on the bed, trying to project an aura of unbothered nonchalance, book in hand (and if she’s skimmed the same paragraph three times now, so what?), as she listens to the muted sounds of products opening and closing, the rustle of fabric as Lisa readies herself for bed on the other side of the door.
Or: Carla and Lisa have some making up to do.
