“He looks like he was on duty when he was killed, why didn’t anyone report not being able to contact him, his partner for example?”
“It says that the station has lost contact with him when he was supposed to report to the communication’s officer at the end of his shift, but his partner said that he’s probably just forgot to report and ‘went straight to the pub’. Mark was an alcoholic, everyone at his station knew that, so no panic was raised. Things like this have happened before.”
EMPATHY: Saying this leaves a very bad taste in his mouth. His voice sounds mechanical while he’s staring at the paper with doleful eyes, not reading anything really. Jean’s trying to avoid these thoughts, but he keeps thinking that this man could have been you.
