This meant long hours stacked on long weeks, all spent on the six-hundredth floor of the Empire State Building. She wasn't a huge fan of spending all her time away from her new boyfriend, but the work was at least interesting. She settled into something of a routine, until events on Olympus shatter her uneasy peace totally.

THALIA GRACE is running on errands all across the country. Her grandfather is rising, and as a goddess herself, she has tasks that the half-mortals do not. Gathering the support of minor gods and nature spirits who should heed Olympus’ rule, and making note of who refuses her. To make matters worse, she hasn't heard from her best—and truly, only—friend in months. She wants a damn vacation.
ANNABETH CHASE is to her knowledge the second godling to live on Olympus. After her stunt last winter, her mother moved both of them into her temple. She's enjoying the increase in attention, and especially the contact with her immortal aunts and uncles, but she can't do anything up here. Jason is okay, but he doesn’t have any interest in quests or the mortal world. For all that it’s lovely, Olympus is another picture perfect prison. She wants out.
PERCY JACKSON misses his friends. Annabeth, a godling like him, and Thalia, an actual goddess. He's glad his mom moved down to Atlantis with his other two parents, but he still feels lonely. He’s got plenty of family, but not much in the way of friends. To make everything worse, he’s been dealing with an on-and-off again sickness that has everyone worried.

That night, Kate Kane just wanted to curl up in bed and pretend life wasn't throwing it's worst possible hand at her. She'd been dishonorably discharged because of a man, her Grandmother had basically disowned her, and to make matters worse, Batman had to step in and save her from a bunch of street thugs. So, she probably shouldn't have been wandering the streets of Crime Alley. But she was glad she did.
That night, Jason Todd was tired, hungry, and desperate. The Batmobile was a prime target. If he was careful enough, he could jack the tires before Batman even got back. He was sure the alley would keep the Bat busy enough. He just wasn't expecting some red-headed chick to kick a half-full can of beer at his face. But the situation wasn't all bad. She helped steal the last tire and carry them back to his house. Plus he got food.

"He doesn’t get past the second tire.
The street is dark and silent and damp, like all alleyways in Gotham; the only sound echoing off the walls is Jason’s heavy breathing as he tries to finish his job as quick as possible.
So when a hand grabs him by the back of his shirt and lifts, Jason screams.
He screams bloody murder, because for all he knows it might as well be, and he thrashes and kicks and claws.
“Hey, hey, stop that, dammit,” it’s a woman’s voice, gruff and annoyed, and a little amused. It doesn’t mean shit, not in Crime Alley, this can still be the beginning of his murder story, but Jason decides to open his eyes at least, take a look on his wannabe murderer. “Jesus, kid, should’ve known you’d be a biter.”
or, alternatively, Kate Kane is the one that finds Jason stealing tires, and she might still be figuring out how to be an adult, but leaving a kid on the streets in the middle of winter is not something she's willing to do.

(Or, a spaceship explodes. Kara decides to become a reporter. And Lena Luthor finally gets something like a happy ending.)

Summary
Lena casts her mind around for the last time she felt this unmoored, this off-balance, by a woman, and can't come up with anything. Kara Danvers is unlike anybody that Lena has ever met; the sweetest, bubbliest person Lena’s yet to come across, and simultaneously one of the saddest, who is probably lying to everyone that she meets. It’s an impossible contradiction to wrap your head around, and Lena should probably stop hiding in this bathroom and trying.
(Or, Kara and Lena get parent-trapped into a relationship by a goofy little alien.)
