Tony wakes up alone, in a forest. His memory is foggy. He doesn’t know how he got here. He doesn’t know where “here” is. Sure, there may be people looking for him, but he isn’t going to play the part of a damsel in distress; he’s going to figure out a way home.
"Tony eyed himself in the glass. This all made the mystery of how he’d arrived in the middle of this damn forest suddenly a lot more important. While all clues had been pointing in the opposite direction so far, he had still held onto a tiny thread of hope that he was still somewhere in the USA, just lost after a big night out as part of some practical joke. Hell, even your standard terrifying kidnapping would be preferable to this. He sat back heavily on the nose of the craft looking at his partial reflection in the glass. Okay. So what exactly did he think was happening now?"

Less than nine days before the Hail Mary is to launch, Eva Stratt asks Commander Yáo to take on an impossible task.
A few minutes after the call ends, Dr. Grace arrives. He takes in the scene: three cots, Ilyukhina asleep on one, me sitting on one, and a third empty. Three cots for three crew members. I rise to greet him and note an expression on his face I can't easily read as he looks around the room. At that moment I am certain he will understand Ms. Stratt’s scheme. He's a brilliant man. Surely he will notice the implications of what is right before his eyes. But if he has any such realization, he gives no sign of it.

“Rocky’s been away from home a very long time. And he’s never exactly told me he’s homesick. He’s never exactly talked about how much it hurts him to be apart from Adrian for so long. When he’s happy, everything is Erid, Adrian, Erid, Adrian. And when he’s not… he closes in on himself. When that happens, I don’t push. I give him space.”
The Hail Mary is getting closer to Erid all the time, and the future is uncertain. Grace will eventually run out of coma slurry. Rocky doesn’t know if Adrian will still be waiting. And neither one of them knows if they will ever truly find a home. It’s a leap in the darkness. A Hail Mary. And all you can do is trust.
Sequel to Sing Name, and we're gonna get to Erid. You don't have to have read Sing Name to read this, but some parts will make more sense if you have.

Summary
It’s gonna be a long trip.
When I finally found Rocky, stranded in the middle of nowhere, I thought I was going to die. I thought I was going to slowly starve to death. But when I banged on the Blip-A’s hull and suddenly heard Rocky's voice through the radio, it was the best moment of my life.
But, you know…. I am still, actually, going to starve to death. I hate it when reality sets in.
On the long trip to Erid, Rocky and Grace discover music together. But for Grace, the road gets harder and harder.
