Dad buys a tray of sandwiches for the bottom shelf of the fridge and leaves bags and bags of barbecue-flavored potato chips on the kitchen floor. He makes big pitchers of Koolaid, poors them into Dixie cups, and places them on the second shelf from the bottom of the refrigerator. He places the knives out of reach in one of the upper cabinets and does the same with the matches. Tony knows not to play with knives, the stove, and matches, but he doesn’t say that, just watches. Dad walks around the house, putting this and that up out of reach, and then says, "I’ll be home in a couple of days. Do me a favor and be a man about it. If it looks like you can plug an appliance into it, keep the silverware out of it. And don’t take any baths, no matter how filthy you are. Just use a wet washcloth if you’re sticky. You’re a smart kid. I know you’ll remember all this. You’ll be fine,” and then he leaves.

Update: I just finished a reread. It's as strong as I remember, but the beginning is really shaky. Bear with it, because both the writing and the narrative blast off once Tony enters the story.
First time reading:
I can't believe I put off reading this! It's epic and hilarious and just hella good writing.I delayed because I thought the rest of the fic would be like the first few paragraphs. How wrong I was!
This is another can't-wait-to-forget-so-I-can-read-it-again fic.
