It's been a year since Roosevelt Island, and Peter has dragged himself back together as best he can. He's rekindled his friendship with Ned, and he's getting comfortable with the idea of MJ being with Paul, but now that he's paying more attention to himself, he's found that he's burning at both ends, and there's not enough time for Spider-Man AND Peter Parker.
The streets of New York are getting restless, with new super-powered individuals popping up every day, and the X-Gene being revealed to the whole world, Peter is dragged into the center of it; as the creator of the Universal Mutation Suppressant, The Brotherhood of Mutants want his head, while the Department of Damage Control (under new management) are interested in using him to 'protect' the City.
So when a certain red-headed telepath and telekinetic asks for his help tracking down the original schematic before either side can abuse it, Peter feels obligated to help.
