Aizen delays his plan by two years and History changes its course.
Ichigo and Uryuu wake up in the clutches of the Quincy King and his army, and get told they will be trained to join their ranks. Their own input or preferences don't matter; Silbern is a place where you can only rely on your own strength or on his Majesty's favor, and they only have the latter right now, for reasons they don't even understand.
But well, if they insist on giving the two teens the means to break free, Ichigo and Uryuu are not about to say no.

“I’m gonna give you one chance to get out of here,” Ichigo warns them, voice low and even, heart beating a steady and calm rhythm in his chest.
He feels like he can breathe again.
“You’re gonna fuckin' regret that,” one of the thugs snarls, a knife flashing in his hand too.
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” Ichigo shrugs.
The thug scoffs and seven of his friends laugh even as the eighth continues to whimper over his destroyed arm.

Summary
The world believes Kaien Shiba is dead.
On one hand, this obviously bums him out because in spite of his very public demise and against reason itself, he clearly did not stay dead.
On the other hand, being on an enforced vacation in the human world for six decades gave him plenty of opportunities to explore an unfamiliar ever-changing world.
With that in mind, one to wonder: How does dropping by an unassuming little candy shop to offload some souvenirs before heading home transform into helping your baby cousin and his friends save your student, exposing several traitors in the Gotei 13's midst and exonerating every exile trapped in Karakura town in the process?
Kaien sure as hell doesn't know, but he's rolling with it.
