Summary
"Every journey has its final day. Don't rush."
"A warrior must always be ready to face any challenge with their blade. The outcome of the battle is irrelevant—what matters is that you learn from the experience."
Xanadu could still hear her father's words, firm and steady like the earth. She can even hear her mother’s advice echo in her mind, versatile and practical like the element she wields. Their voices—always warm, always gentle.
Now she considers what advice her parents would give to her regarding the present chaos unfolding before her wide eyes:
A miscreant setting everything ablaze just to prove that he has potential.
What appears to be group leaders passing responsibility around like a game of hot potato on who gets to deal with the said miscreant.
Her newly made friend watching everything in fascination.
A crow disguised as a man squawking orders about to catch the miscreant.
Bystanders running around like headless chickens to avoid the aforementioned fire.
A poor lad whose butt was literally on said fire.Just what kind of world has Xanadu's eccentric fairy godfather thrusted her into?

Summary
It was perhaps entirely undignified of the former Shadowhand, but Caleb felt a swell in his chest at how comfortable Essek felt here. Even now, Essek still tranced more than he slept, so Caleb savored every time he was graced with a peaceful and sleeping Essek.
Or, a simple morning in which Caleb admires his wizard boyfriend.

Summary
“I bet Essek has a really cute butt,” Jester declares, apropos of nothing. “He just seems like the type, you know.”
Ten feet away, Essek blinks at the scroll he is reading, sure he has misheard.

In which the Mighty Nein have a dubious dinner, Essek flashes some fang, and Caleb loses his goddamn mind.

Sleepy wizard antics
-----
Essek is lightly jostled from his trance by a soft, accented voice and calloused fingertips skimming his face. He blinks and when the haziness clears Caleb is there, presumably having finally made his way to bed, lying down next to him with his head propped up on one hand. Caleb's other hand rests on his cheek.Bookmarked by Dux_Chudomir

Summary
Caleb entered their shared study in the late hours of the evening, itching to get just a little research done before going to bed for the night. Essek had protested at the time, but Caleb insisted that he wouldn't be long.
Caleb never came to bed.
Essek already knew why.
Essek crept ever so carefully into the quiet study. In the stillness of the late hour, he could just barely hear the soft sounds of Caleb's steady breathing from somewhere within the room. Armed with a pillow and blanket, Essek made his way towards the center of the study to find wherever his dear lover had fallen asleep.
(Caleb falls asleep while reading in the study and Essek takes care of him, resulting in Soft Wizard Cuddles. Very fluffy and tender content contained ahead. You have been warned.)
