Basira stared at the scene playing out in front of her. Her new Coworkers were literally hurling mud at one another. She had been told that the move to the Aquatic/Riparian team was a significant change from the gleaming halls of the Magnus Institute, (that was the entire point of the move in the first place), but the complete shift in focus and leadership was downright shocking. The supposed team leader, one Jonathan Sims, was just standing there hip-deep in water with his arms crossed over his chest watching the scene play out while his subordinates fought with each other in the mud like savage animals. Hell, She even thought she heard snarling!

Carl loves his new job as a forest ranger. Solitude, peace, quiet, a chance to walk barefoot on the moss, and an old log cabin to live in with Donut. Even though he's broke as shit and all the other rangers say his new post is haunted, he's content. He doesn't believe any of the old superstitions about stick people or ancient entities or bigfoot living in the woods.
He probably shouldn't have walked barefoot, though. Now the legends believe in him.

Qifrey is free of The Curse™, but it leaves him with low vision. He adapts with a little help and some nifty new contraptions from his smart and awesome apprentices. He also finally gets to have good things, like way too much wine and the best friend he's longed after for ages.
Or: I write out my ideal post-canon for my beloved family. I am un-dooming them from the narrative because I'm too impatient for Shirahama to do so herself in 10 years. Characterization/plot leans sweeter and less tragic. I like my imaginative whimsy and queer joy!

Qifrey tries to catalogue all of the places they touch, reminding himself that the contact is no longer dangerous. Olly’s nose is slotted against his temple, fingers having moved from between his shoulders to the base of his head. There’s a slight tickle where the hair on his chin brushes against Qifrey’s cheek. The other arm is wrapped loosely around his middle, squeezing against his tunic. Their legs aren’t exactly tangled, but he can feel Olruggio’s calf against his own, a bony knee against his thigh, and the press of something warm and firm against his hip. His own body is an unfortunate mirror, the hour still early and the closeness still unfamiliar.
