Summary
“You—you think Obi-Wan is ashamed of you for being a slave?” Ahsoka asked uncertainly.
“No,” Anakin said. His voice was steady, with a cynical edge. “I think he’s ashamed of me for being me."
* * * * *
Obi-Wan overhears Ahsoka asking Anakin about his origins and can't quite ignore the temptation to stick around and listen to the remaining conversation. But Anakin's explanation of his life as a slave and then later a Jedi turns out to not be entirely accurate, and Obi-Wan is compelled to intercede.

Summary
Anakin Skywalker has spent most of his life seeking Obi-Wan Kenobi's approval.
He has fought for it, suffered for it, and eventually learned to pretend he no longer needs it. Yet Obi-Wan remains infuriatingly composed, offering the same measured patience whether Anakin succeeds spectacularly or fails catastrophically.
Until Anakin discovers something.
Obi-Wan's anger is the closest thing to possession that Anakin has ever experienced.Bookmarked by Ekkreth_4
