Summary
Militech gave V everything; a livelihood, a roof over her head, and food in her stomach when the streets of Night City spat her out. After spending the majority of her adolescence and adulthood in the corporation as a counterintelligence agent, her services turned from full-time to contract as she moved on to a career of broadcast journalism for News 54. She became the face of the morning news segment while transforming back into her agent persona at night when Militech sends her on assignment.
One assignment shatters the little peace and routine V built for herself: the relic. With the interference of Yorinobu Arasaka and the chip disappearing after a private auction, several corporations are on the hunt to find the elusive Arasaka tech, including Arasaka themselves. Goro Takemura and V cross paths in this unlikely situation and with the race of finding the chip heating up, Goro suggests forming a ‘partnership’ with V. As they embark on this hide and seek game, attraction clashes, and V realizes there is an underlying motivation in this partnership.
