He steps past the broken down elevator, descends 2 flights of stairs, and takes the fire exit out as a shortcut into the parking lot.
Ren’s beat up, piece of shit, 2004 Honda Civic sits right in front of him, so he meanders over and sticks his hands onto the window frame to support himself as he leans down to look at Ren’s annoyingly pretty face.
“What do you want.” He asks perfunctorily. Making sure he doesn’t seem at all open to doing absolutely anything.
“We’re going to the beach.” is all he gets in response.Or; 4 years Post-Canon, Ren takes Goro to the beach (despite some hesitancy), and every pent up emotion inside Goro is revealed.

When Goro lifts his gaze, he finds gunmetal eyes staring into his own wine red ones.
What the fuck.
That can't be him. He's supposed to be dead. Shot down like a dog in the Metaverse. Gone in Shido's blown up yacht.
He's not supposed to be here. Standing around so Goro can crash into him in the frantic streets of Shibuya.
"Holy shit," Goro says, and it's the most coherent sentence he can even think of producing.
Ren disappears. Goro hates his life.
They meet again one winter day.

"You knew." His voice started in a low whisper of disbelief but it rose higher and higher as he spoke until he was shouting. "All this time you knew and yet you still accepted it? Is this some sort of ritual to humiliate me?” Akechi balled up his fists, flexed them, then scrunched them up again. “Why?”
His nostrils flared and the vein in his forehead threatened to bulge, but there was no going back now so Ren stated with all the casual confidence he could muster. “It's my engagement ring.” He wiggled his gloved hand for extra effect.
In which a stray comment over Ren's 'totally normal and not out of the ordinary at all' obsession with Akechi's glove leads to a plan that will hopefully save both their lives.
