He dropped his chin, turning his face away as though that could somehow hide what had already been seen. He wanted to disappear beneath that piercing gaze, to retreat back into the numbness where no one could reach him, and nothing could hurt quite so much.
But Dick had always had a way of reaching him.
He came into Tim's life like a flame against his frozen skin—so warm, so bright, sometimes almost painful, but impossible not to feel.
“Come on, Tim,” Dick said softly. “Let’s go home.”

"Men always fucking say that," she snapped, a lifetime of frustration living there. "'He'd never do that; he's a family man. Goes to church on Sundays, gives to charity, pillar of the community.' But it's not like that. Abusers aren't obvious. They hide it. That's how they get in the door." She shook her head at him, like he should be smarter than this. "You're his boss. Of course you'd never see it. It would only come out with people who have less power than him."

Robby was so focused on asking him questions that he didn't much pay attention as Brandon led the way inside, past the bouncers and through a dark doorway, the low beat of sensual music rising as they entered. Which meant that Jack got the unparalleled joy of watching Robby as he pulled up short just inside, his eyes widening as he took in the stage, the glittering lights, the gleaming poles, and the parade of half-naked women on display. "What the fuck," he muttered, not a question.
"Oh, have you not heard of Lola's? It's all the rage," Jack said innocently, trying to control his grin.
Robby locked onto him, expression going stormy. "Et tu, Brute?"

Summary
Robby realises with a lurch of abject horror that there’s no recognition in Jack’s eyes. Zero. Jack is looking at him like they’re strangers.
He had thought he’d been having a bad day before, but somehow, realising that the cause of his gay awakening doesn’t remember him is a whole new factor of awfulness. In a way, it’s nice to realise that there are still depths to his shitshow of a life that he hasn’t explored yet.
Robby has his gay awakening at 24 with a guy who doesn't bother sticking around. Thirty years later, he's just finished saving a patient from a near-fatal GSW when he's dragged from work, shoved into a car and told that "the boss" wants to have a word. Robby doesn't expect this guy to be Jack. He doesn't expect to be offered a job working for the mob, either.

“Not everyone,” Bruce says. “Not you.”
Bruce keeps his breathing even and measured, doesn’t betray for a second the relief he feels when Tim believes him. When Tim doesn't find the uglier, unsaid truth beneath Bruce’s carefully considered words.
The lack of contingencies for Red Robin does not mean that Batman trusts him infallibly.
