“It’ll be fine, Mobius. Really. I’ve practically planned the whole thing.”
“Hey, that's great!! I'm so glad to hear how you think there's nothing to worry about, as if you're not part of the problem!" Mobius snaps back, earning a classic Loki scowl for his troubles. "Okay, look. For all I know, we'll be gliding along having a good time and then out of nowhere you’ll just push me off and-”
Mobius grabs the salt shaker and lands it on his finger. Great. Now he’s doing it too.
“Drive right over me. Like that.”
Loki hums in consideration.
"See, I wouldn't do it exactly like that because it lacks finesse."
There's always been something in the water. It doesn't surface until they're riding out the waves.

Loki does not like where this is going whatsoever. Not in the slightest. There's only one person 'that guy' could mean.
“Excuse me?”
“I mean, you obviously aren’t together yet. You’re still in that awkward stage, right? I can tell. It’s kind of sweet.”

Mobius shakes his head, mouth curling around a wry smile.
“Yeah. Not buying it.”
“I’ll give you better words, then,” Loki says simply, like his suggestion is a very good one and he can’t fathom why Mobius would ever refuse him.
Ducking his head a fraction, Mobius reins in his amusement.
“How about this?” hands folded on the table, he watches Loki intently. “If you tell me why, I’ll answer.”
A soured expression clouds Loki’s face, lips pinched tight. He jumps off the table.
“Nice try. But I’m not in the mood to play patient and therapist.”
Leaning back in his seat, Mobius twiddles with his pen merrily.
“Ah, well. It was worth a shot. Maybe next time.”
Oh yeah. Loki is definitely up to something.

Mobius sucks in his bottom lip and draws a sharp breath. Right. So that’s an answer in itself. Loki has humiliated and humbled himself all in a single day. How extraordinary.
“I threatened to gut Casey like a fish should he refuse my request. He didn't know what it was.”
“You threatened Casey? Ah, man now that’s just sad…” Mobius snorts, murmuring the phrase over in hushed reverence. “Gut him, like a fish. Hey, do you even know how to do that?”
“I’ve been fishing.”
He has never fished for a fish in his life.
“If you say so.”
“I have. Many times.”
Mobius looks far too amused.
“Sure. Of course you have.”
For the record, the whole thing is absolutely absurd and forever will be.

“I think you could’ve done this someplace other than my desk,” Mobius placates with his hands on his hips, pushing down his growing awe.
He has to take the high road here. One of them should. Though that’s kind of hard when Loki leans into the tiny scraps of praise.
“Alright, fine... it’s pretty impressive,” Mobius admits in fond exasperation.
To think, Loki really made this from a not-so-secret stash of plastic knives. It's more than impressive - it's spectacular. But these knife-related incidents are also really getting of hand and have to stop.
“I call it Loki Liberty.”
“Still hung up on New York, huh?”
Loki always has something up his sleeve, especially when that thing can’t be a real knife.

Loki almost feels the rivulets of blood dripping from his own fingers. Covering his own hands. It might as well be the case.
