Harry Potter was thrilled to be a wizard, to be going to school for being a wizard, and to learn all about how to do magic!
So it was a surprise indeed to find no one liked him much and oh gosh, how many points did he just lose?

Teachers who didn't like him, housemates who hated him, unfair treatment and points taken away all the time, well, at least he had Hedwig which was exactly one friend more than he'd ever had before!
Or:
A magic window, secret rooms, baffling attacks, magic that didn't like to come out in class and an entire host of weirdness, Harry Potter might be new to magic but life in a cupboard taught one thing for sure....

But what if we gave the boy—just a little more unusual than anyone had ever realised—a little more composure and a touch of healthy pragmatism, let him be an ordinary child for a while, and then sent him back to Privet Drive, to the Dursleys?
