It was supposed to be fun. It was supposed to be like a short vacation before joining his inevitable eternity. However, Harry Potter made a couple massive miscalculations in this plan. First was trusting that a primordial being actually knew what was going on and was in charge. Second was thinking that his over-developed 'saving people thing' wouldn't kick in and claim an entire messed up vigilante family and, by extension, an entire bloody town in the process. Well, at least he'd been training for this his entire life it seemed. What was a vigilante anyway but Harry Potter in tights? Nope, definitely dropping the tights, that's weird.

Harry Potter is informed in third year that he's technically Lord Slytherin by Right of Conquest since he killed the basilisk. This is very stupid, but on the other hand, if Harry can use it to protect people and solve their problems, he will. (it's still stupid, though).

Clark's hands shake. He doesn't understand. His head is foggy, thoughts slow, as he tears his gaze away to look up at the wrecked bridge. "I should be dead," his voice trembles as he speaks. "Why aren't I..."
The world starts to tilt, darkness swallowing the edges of his vision. The man on the riverbank struggles to sit up, shouting in alarm as Clark pitches sideways, trying futily to catch him.
"Hey! It'll be alright, we'll figure it out. Just calm down--"
The rest of his words are lost to unconsciousness.
What if, in his delirium, Clark Kent confessed to Lex Luthor at the bridge that he had been hit by Lex's car? What if, in learning there was something new and freakish about him, he was scared to tell his parents, and never got told he was an alien? What if the whole world pivoted so Lex Luthor was the one Clark trusted at the outset of the tale of Smallville?
