    “I don’t want you to let me hurt you.”

    “I won’t,” Ryuunosuke promises, pressing a kiss to Kazuma’s sternum. “And you won’t.” His voice is the slightest rumble against his heartbeat. “Okay?”

    That unconditional trust again, the kind that Ryuunosuke seems to have an endless supply of while Kazuma can barely afford it for himself. He nods as much as he’s able. He focuses on the travel of his breath from stomach to lungs to mouth, on letting the tension go with it. Gingerly, he drops his weight lower. Did it feel like this for Ryuunosuke? Like letting someone pry you open? Like if they went far enough, they’d reach some vulnerable and frightened little piece of your soul, curled in your stomach?

    Kazuma seems to understand now, how Ryunosuke intends to play with him, this little game between them. Groans quietly when Ryunosuke kisses him between his brows, pulling the cushion away from his thighs.

    there’s like. such an incredible texture to this fic that transitions sososo well from the beginning to the end of it. like. idk it’s so colourful. ryuunosuke’s presence has such a weight to it, handles kazuma in a way that’s so tender, and it makes a side of him we rarely see bleed from him. one of my faves ever i can’t believe i forgot to bookmark this

She loves him, she’s dead fucking angry, she has an early morning taking a new acolyte up into the mountains tomorrow, she’s so sick of this stupid conversation, she wants things to be simple again, throwing fries at the side of his head while leaning over the couch in the office, Nick pretending not to notice, Pearl acting scandalized and scolding her while she laughs. But she’s 23 and nothing really seems simple anymore, or maybe it never was.

    So she says the cruelest thing she can think of: “You’re reminding me of Mia, you know.”

    Or, the Wrights visit Kurain. Maya learns poker.
