Po rozstaniu z Kelly Max po raz pierwszy od lat zostaje sam ze zbliżającą się rutyną i z zapachem, którego nie czuł od czasów kartingu. Charles przez całe dorosłe życie robił wszystko, by nikt nie widział w nim omegi — tłumił ciepła, wyciszał instynkty i nauczył się traktować własne ciało jak kolejną rzecz, którą trzeba utrzymać pod kontrolą. Max jest przekonany, że już jako nastolatek próbował go adorować i został odrzucony, podczas gdy Charles nawet nie wiedział, że tamte gesty były zalotami.
Kiedy po latach ich drogi znów zaczynają się splatać, drobne przysługi zmieniają się w świadome zaloty, wspólne podróże w bezpieczne gniazda, a obecność w coś, czego żaden z nich nie potrafi dłużej ignorować. Max musi nauczyć się, że cierpliwość nie oznacza milczenia, a Charles, że potrzeba bliskości nie odbiera mu siły.
